LOOK AT WHAT I HAVE:
[img][300:400]http://www.ramsites.net/~s2cegibs/lucky.jpg[/img]
Dogfish Head Liquor de Malt. There were apparently ten cases of this sent to richmond and he got me one bottle from his case. It comes with its own bag so i can be a hobo. i don't care how many people shit dead on my scalp today, i'm going to be looking forward to this so much that i won't notice. the anticipation makes my life worth living.

That's really odd. I thought Dogfish made higher-grade beers. So what gives? Dammit, guy-I-won't-name-cuz-he-tryin-to-be-able-to-post-at-work, give us details.

This is brilliant. Kyle, do you not see that this IS higher-grade beer? "Liquor de Malt"? A BUILT-IN brownbag? It's the ultimate in highbrow/lowbrow!

(i.e., it's meant to be humorous, and is probably still pretty good)

...yeah, the picture in my head was a conversation between the 5 or 6 guys who probably run Dogfish, starting with "you know what'd be fuckin' hilarious?" and ending with "Do it, dude!"

how does one obtain a "beer guy"? i can only assume this is one of those things that my state's stringent liquor sales laws prohibits.

Bloor and Busty had a beer guy back in Athens, at Mr. Lee's Package.

Yeah, I came back for a game like 2 years after I moved away; this guy game out from inside his bulletproof plexiglass cage and gave me a hug, "Where you been Chrees. Business no good since you leave. hahahahahaha"

That dude was the beer god of that particular ghetto for sure.

Is that the place on the Eastside across from the Kroger? Wasn't it a gas station/keg store?

If it's the same place, I used to buy our kegs there when I was a freshman and sophmore. AKA the Underage Years.

Mmmmmmmmmm shitty keg beer. *sigh*

Normaltownish, iirc. I know the place you speakof...The dude who owns 5 Points Bottle had an interest in that place, so depending on availability, we would sometimes swap kegs with them...one time I hauled 3 kegs of Purple Haze over there, and receiving in return a package of FILTHY PORNOGRAPHY, to stock up our bathroom.

And who DOESN'T have a beer guy. I have several. One in Mobile, who let me keep like 20 surplus cases of beer and wine last summer, and one in Dalevill who makes massive, possibly techincally illegal deliveries to my dad's place to keep us floating in booze. I say possibly illegal, because I have seen my dad hand him stacks of cash in a roadside BBQ joint, with some kind of wink/nudge/massive threat of violence.

This place was out in Normaltown, down Prince, and then right on somethin, a block down. My Athens geography is fading fast.

The most amazing part is that I'm surprised. What am I thinking?

pretty much the story that i got. they did a tasting of a bunch of malt liquors, decided that they could assuredly make a better one, got some gourmet corns and got to business. the plastic cap and bag are strictly for show.
