This weekend in my infamous record digging adventure, I ran across an Beatles record titled Hey Jude. It had 7-8 songs on it, and this is the cover:

I don't know if it was the Capitol or Apple, I was strictly looking for cheap and this one was $8-10. I figure the odds are against it, but any chance this thing is possibly worth a damn, or of any particular interest to own?

There was also a copy of Rubber Soul, but I'm not shelling out $30 for a damn record yet.

hmm, there are a few versions of this floating around. the trick is figuring out which you have. if it's the US one, then it's probably worth just a few dollars more than you paid. if it's one of the UK versions, then you might have something of value.

the label is the key. the silver & black one is apparently worth a boatload, but the others fetch (except the widespread parlophone version) a pretty penny as well.

See, I got nothin' on details, but it took me a minute to figure out what it was. I wasn't familiar with it at all.

I may swing over tomorrow and pick it up just for the hell of it.

Can't tell you if it's valuable or not, but that album used to be everywhere. I think in the '70s it was the only Beatles LP available in North America with "Rain" on it (might be wrong about that, though).

I have a copy of Tapestry with the back entirely in Spanish.

I don't think that album was ever released in England, was it? It hasn't been released on CD, and the CDs are (for the most part) all the original British albums.

Hey Jude was a Capitol Records compilation of a handful of non-LP A & B sides released in 1970, probably between when Abbey Road and Let It Be came out. Not just "Rain," but I think at least 6 other tracks were never on any American Beatles LP until this one.

I doubt that it's worth much.

Not much value in it as far as I know. I wouldn't pay $8 for it.

Something with 'Rain' on it is worth $8.

I have it; in addition to Rain its got some other B-sides on it like "Old Brown Shoe"

I never considered it valuable, but I will be seeing if mine is indeed the UK version just in case (doubtful)

I have that album, and I would say it's worth the price. It does depend on which label is on it as far as value goes, but even the lowest version if in good condition is going to be worth at least a couple bucks more than that price.

Check these sites to see what records are selling at and compare for this or future purchases:

You might as well swing by eBay & see what the going rate is, too.
