E.T. returns to Earth to help Gertie with her brother Elliot who did not heed E.T.'s parting words of "Be good."
Elliots home life has been nothing but trouble ever since his best friend returned home, first undergoing years of tests in efforts to understand he and E.T.'s unexplainable connection and then being placed in protective federal custody and moved from lovely California to the mean streets of Chicago. His Mother's nerves have been shot ever since the events of 1982 driving her to drink heavily. Nobody believes his fantastic stories of the 3 1/2' tall, Reeses Pieces munching, cross dressing alien that lived with him for several weeks during October of his 4th grade year. Alienated Elliot turned to a life of drugs violence, and kinky sex.
Ellliots younger sister Gertie, alarmed by Elliots dangerous behavior fears that he may be spiraling out of control, sets off too find a way to contact Elliots long lost friend E.T..
Discovering some sketches Elliot made of E.T.'s "phone", Gertie attempts to rebuild it with one key element missing.................... a Texas Instruments Speak and Spell.
