I've got really high expectations for this series mainly because I have a fairly healthy obsession with what are going to be the direct results of the war in Iraq (like, you know, yo uncle that still cant get over Vietnam) and what these people are going to be like when they come back.

Besides dat meth epidemic, this will be the biggest story in America in the next 5-10 years.

Its just a TV series but I'm hoping that between Steven Bochco and fx that we might get something good.

i think you're giving bochco too much credit.

it could be really good, but that there's a touchy fucking subject right now, and i think they're gonna bend over backwards to have goung-ho patriotic storytelling all over the fucking place. and this isn't a politics thing, but a war thing. it's so hard to make soemthing like this without glorifying war to a shittacular degree, when it really is the last thing that should be glorified. It can't be in the middle like Band of Brothers because I PROMISE you there will be minimal blood/body parts/gore, which whether we like it or not are a very large part of war.

i call Tour of Duty II, only without the passage of time and reverence.

According to Cap'N, it's all a ploy to get folks to join the army.

I'm pretty interested in this, mainly because I know my Dad will be and that will give us something to talk about.

I was never into NYPD Blue but Hill Street Blues was really good TV so I'm giving dude benefit of the doubt.

Also, despite the fact that a gaggle of movies have been made about WWII, and Vietnam Black Hawk Down was the first movie I ever saw dealing with guys that might have been mine or my brother's age and fighting a war; That actually meant something to me.

I guess I'm just waiting for a fake depiction of my generations' war.....

And I'm expecting the best

i just shot sprite out of my nose because of this.

I thought it was pretty good, I'll definitely at least watch next week. It feels kind of weird though, a show about a war that's ongoing.
