I wouldn't say it's overrated (I never hear much about how it's a GREAT album) but it's not amazing.

I have a boot of the Royal Albert Hall live performance, and some of it I like, but the silly-ass slide whistles intruding from time to time made me think of a Mighty Mouse cartoon. Away from the "Smile" album part of the performance, the old Beach Boy classic tunes they played sound fine. So, no, not impressed with Smile. B. Wilson appears to function at about 30% tops on a very good day.
