hey everyone, hows things? anyway, this is a link to a song. it's the Chipmunks' "Christmas Song" but slowed down so the Chipmunk voices sound human. it's kinda disturbing and sacrilicious.

I always thought they were girls sped up.

It sounds just a wee bit too slow, but otherwise sounds pretty natural. Is it possible they were using falsetto voices, and they slowed it down too much? If not, those guys have some serious lungs!

this was the speed they actually recorded it at so that when it was sped up the voices would be high but the speed would be normal

Dave's voice was slowed down more than the others, so that sped up he would sound normal and the chipmunks would sound ... chipmunky?

This is how much that link annoyed me:

I would rather listen to a late-nineties emo-rock outfit from the Wisconsin sticks.

np: Insidious :: "Waltz in E Minor"

As well, I think those boys have gone on to Temper Temper (dance-dance-revolution rock on Revelation) and Call Me Lightning (which, despite the name, is not a mid-eighties-style speed-metal revival... bastards).

I never knew what he was singing there. I thought it was just a meaningless sound, like "hooooolah hoooooolah." Now it makes sense. Why anyone would ask for a hula hoop, of all damn things, for Christmas, now THAT doesn't make sense. But they were more innocent times, the time in which this classic was made.

Oh, yeah, good point. There were several places where things began to make sense (for example, all the talking over each other at the end is pretty clear in this version).

actually courtesy of Homer, upon having prayed to a waffle which was stuck upon the ceiling of the kitchen (and then knocking it down with a broom and eating it).

But would you really want one for Christmas? It can't even be wrapped in such a way to disguise what it really is. "What is this? A tire? Could it be a short segment of hose joined together? I can't for the life of me imagine what this perfectly round tube-feeling thing is!"

I hate the f-ing chipmunks. Even as a kid I found them irritiating and something about those high pitch voices has always kind of creeped me out.
