The label took a pragmatic approach to the reissue saying:

"We realize that some Interpol completists will feel cheated at having to purchase the same album twice, but we remind each and everyone of you, that you possess free will. You don't have to purchase anything. [...] That said, we do think this is makes a great holiday gift. Like, Columbus Day, for instance."

At least this time it's by a band that's a fucking shithole, so you have nothing to worry about.

this album actually grew on me over time, but i love how the label goes to the trouble of explaining that their reasoning is "go fuck yourself, i got kids to feed"!

The bonus disc seems such a waste.

This thread has opened my eyes to just how cynical the record industry is.

I'd simply had no idea beforehand.

Yeah, well, as long as the satellite's tuned in to us and watching closely, maybe they'll get the message. And while we're at it, I could use a gift cert to Chipotle, you greedy record industry fucks.

Wow, it's about time!

You know what album is really due for a reissue? Interpol's classic debut album, Turn on the Bright Lights! Talk about an overlooked gem! How long do we have to wait for that one? Personally, I'm holding out for The Complete Turn on the Bright Lights Sessions box set with outtakes, demos, alternate versions, countless remixes, and the "Carlos D's Day at the Salon" DVD. I'm pretty sure we'll see it by Christmas '06.

Either that or "OK, yeah, now the majors are winning the bidding war. We've gotta bleed these fuckers as much as we can."

Say what you will about the decision to release this bonus bullshit but Interpol's albums are some of my all-time favorites. I couldn't disagree more.

It's not my dislike of Interpol that is feuling my attitude (though it's not helping anything), it's just the bullshit practice of bilking customers (ideally the fans) out of more fucking money when they could've just as easily released this to begin with or just fucking waited until it was 10 years old or something. and then these pricks complain about how badly people downloading music hurts them. Well quit forcing people to buy the same album twice or shut the fuck up is my response.

oh and Carlos D is another guy that could stand to receive a kick in the nuts. in fact, he just made the list.

edit it turns out he was already in the list. i'm prescient.

Technically, wouldn't this make you forgetful as opposed to prescient?
