Ipswich Town FC won there first match of the championship season against Cardiff at Portman Road today 1-0 on the strength of their new stricker Nicky Forster's first goal of the season. Their Premiership push begins now.

Kon - Did i see that Motherwell had a 4-4 draw with Celtic last week? Is third realistic for Motherwell this year?

All - ? - Will Eissen end up with Chelsea?

Big boys start next weekend.

Yeah 4-4. Celtic scored in injury time to sneak a draw they didn't deserve. Won 1-0 against Dunfermline today, so we've got off to a reasonable start. We're pretty strong at home though the problems for us is picking up points away from home.

Third seems a bit optimistic, especially as Hearts (of course Jericho know all about George Burley as a coach) have been spending a lot of money. We've finished top six the last two season and if we could do that again that would be a job well done. We have the second smallest budget in the league so really big Terry Butcher has done a great job to keep us in the top half of the league.

We also have a pretty small squad and we've already lost 6 of our first eleven to long term injuries and transfers so it's going to be a tough season but I'm hopeful we can do reasonably well.

I don't really see much televised football these days but I'll be keeping an eye out for Wigan in the Premiership. Couple of ex Motherwell players in the team (Lee McCulloch and Stevie McMillan) so I hope they can do well.

Celtic 2 Dundee 0

The Bhoys will beat the Rangers three times and win it all this year. Redeem themselves for the disgusting lapse this year past.

Don't forget their terrific showing in the Champions League this year.

Dunno, from what I hear, Celtics haven't started off well this season. Heard Rangers won today 1-0.

"The Celtic manager endured a 5-0 thrashing by Artmedia Bratislava followed by a 4-4 draw against Motherwell - but he is convinced things will now start looking up."

I hear that Artmedia Bratislava are quite tough. Celtic sure are going to shake things up this year.....especially with Sutton out with a fractured face.

"Gordon Strachan made a disastrous start as Celtic manager tonight after watching his new-look side slump to a humiliating five-goal Champions League qualifying drubbing and arguably the worst European night in their history in the Tehelne Polie Stadium."

At least it can only get better....i guess.

"Gordon Strachan returned from his sabatical from the game on June 1, taking over from Martin O'Neill at Celtic - who himself had decided to take a break from football.

Celtic had just dramatically surrendered the SPL crown to Rangers in the final minutes of the season. And after five years of success under O'Neill, Strachan knows there will be a lot of expectation at Parkhead.

"Strachan's previous job had been with Premiership side Southampton. He had indicated when he took the job that he would take a break from football at the end of his contract, and he was true to his word.

Although he was initially expected to see out the end of his deal until the end of the 2003/04 campaign, the uncertainty over his position and the club's direction was always a worry and, eventually, he left on February 13, 2004.

The game lost one of its most colourful characters, a dying breed in today's game, but after just over a year working for the BBC as a pundit he was to return in his native Scotland. "

As I say... give him a few months... and talk to me in July, 2006.
