Because she's a hypocrite.

PROTESTING SOLDIER MOM CHANGED STORY ON BUSH
Mon Aug 08 2005 10:11:07 ET

The mother of a fallen U.S. soldier who is holding a roadside peace vigil near President Bush's ranch -- has dramatically changed her account about what happened when she met the commander-in-chief last summer.

Cindy Sheehan, 48, of Vacaville, Calif., who last year praised Bush for bringing her family the "gift of happiness," took to the nation's TV outlets this weekend to declare how Bush "killed an indispensable part of our family and humanity."

CINDY 2004

THE REPORTER of Vacaville, CA published an account of Cindy Sheehan's visit with the president at Fort Lewis near Seattle on June 24, 2004:

"'I now know he's sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqis,' Cindy said after their meeting. 'I know he's sorry and feels some pain for our loss. And I know he's a man of faith.'

"The meeting didn't last long, but in their time with Bush, Cindy spoke about Casey and asked the president to make her son's sacrifice count for something. They also spoke of their faith.

"The trip had one benefit that none of the Sheehans expected.

"For a moment, life returned to the way it was before Casey died. They laughed, joked and bickered playfully as they briefly toured Seattle.

For the first time in 11 weeks, they felt whole again.

"'That was the gift the president gave us, the gift of happiness, of being together,' Cindy said."

CINDY 2005

Sheehan's current comments are a striking departure.

She vowed on Sunday to continue her protest until she can personally ask Bush: "Why did you kill my son?"

In an interview on CNN, she claimed Bush "acted like it was party" when she met him last year.

"It was -- you know, there was a lot of things said. We wanted to use the time for him to know that he killed an indispensable part of our family and humanity. And we wanted him to look at the pictures of Casey.

"He wouldn't look at the pictures of Casey. He didn't even know Casey's name. He came in the room and the very first thing he said is, 'So who are we honoring here?' He didn't even know Casey's name. He didn't want to hear it. He didn't want to hear anything about Casey. He wouldn't even call him 'him' or 'he.' He called him 'your loved one.'

Every time we tried to talk about Casey and how much we missed him, he would change the subject. And he acted like it was a party.

BLITZER: Like a party? I mean...

SHEEHAN: Yes, he came in very jovial, and like we should be happy that he, our son, died for his misguided policies. He didn't even pretend like somebody...

END

that story first appeared on the drudge report, and has since been posted in full, in context, on other sites such as daily kos which you linked to. you might wanna look into that.

so this is how we're supporting the troops now, huh? arresting grieving mothers of dead soliders. if that makes you happy you're pretty much a worthless piece of shit in my eyes.

I know i'm being harsh and everything, but its just dumb fucking luck that my mother isn't cindy sheehan. what you guys are saying is hitting really close to home. I really wish you would think about the soldiers and their friends and family before you make comments like the ones you've made.

i just so fucking sick of the "war on terror".

stop policies that hurt other countries and they will not hate us...its really that simple...

(btw david cross had a great point: if the terrorists really "hated freedom" then the netherlands are fucked)

yeah, i know its just a message board, but Casey Sheehan was a real person and so is his mother. this is the man whose mother you're talking about. if you don't honor the sacrifice he made on the battle field, at least show enough repsect not to denigrate his mom in such a sickening fashion.

I know where you're coming from, i feel what you're saying, but I don't think a president's lies about a war make the sacrifice of those who die in that war any less significant.if anything it makes their deaths that much more tragic.

i think your wrong....it does make their deaths less significant....

they didnt need to die.....hence: less significant......they died for nothing

im not trying to break your balls here and we probably agree more than we disagree.

to further explain my position, i have a problem with the military. part of their basic job description is to kill people.....thats not real high up on my list

I really do understand what you're saying, but I just have to disagree. soldiers have no say over where or why they fight, they don't get to pick and choose which wars will give their death more "meaning." the fact that Iraq may ultimately become (or already is) a lost cause isn't the fault of those fighting the war, nor is the legitimacy of the war in the first place their responsibility, none of that is about them.

they gave their lives for their country, period. NOW, the fact that they didn't need to? that's on us, not them.

Yeah, nothing dishonors the memory of a dead child like a parent who wants answers and accountability.

Not a fan of this war and suspect her boy died pretty pointlessly, but good for her for demanding more.

I'm sick of dead soldier parents who all of a sudden turn against military action when the kids buy the farm.

They all have no problem waiving the proud flag and slapping the "Support The Troops" magnet on the SUV, and they certainly don't have a problem with their kids collecting a paycheck, including whopping amounts of tax-free hazardous duty pay, all while the government provides all the living expenses.

It's damned hypocritical for them to pull crap like this. If they're against the war, they should have counselled their kids not to enlist.

Every single U.S. soldier in the middle east right now volunteered. They're all getting paid, and have always been paid with the understanding that they could eventually be put in harm's way.

If fighting terrorists overseas is not in our national interest and the only fighting we should do is when the war comes to our soil, then you might as well disband the army, because we have the missiles, boats, and planes to destroy any invasion force before it reaches our shores.

Oh yeah, then what are the tens of thousands of non-college-bound kids gonna do for work?

Based on the folks (in-laws, family, friends of in-laws and family) with whom I've talked, this woman's kid would be embarassed by her grand-standing.
