buy a ticket beforehand, show up later. rap shows run notoriously late. gza didn't go on til 1am, ghostface at a little after midnight. but yeah, i'd still go. |

It was a good time..I didn't see much of anyone else on the bill, but Raekwon did a good job. Not the usual yelling by the hype men, and his lyrics and the beats came through pretty clear..He did a bunch of Wu stuff and also a bunch of just his verses, so it was mixed up a bit but overall well worth 15 bucks..The church basement is small and pretty hot when it's packed with people, but the fact that you can openly drink, is awesome.. |

you can drink at the Church now? I mean, other than out of 40s in backpacks? I like that place, but it gets SO hot that it's unbearable. I remember seeing RJD2 there once and people were getting delirious. I'm really surprised that he wouldn't play somewhere bigger. I'd be surprisedif he couldn't fill the TLA or something. |

Yeah I wasn't quite sure if it was a sneak a drink thing or a full blown drink what ya want in the open.And that it was..People had 40s, 6ers..I had a 22 of Heineken..And once the show started, the blunts came out..Very surprised all of that was ok, but it worked..It might be different for some other shows, but it was all good the other night. From the last time I was there, they added about 12 ceiling fans, but that didn't help much..it was Nov and it felt like August..Whatever happened to that AC they were talking about getting ? |
