Music Inside, Yo

1. Shugo Tokumaru - The Mop
A nice little ditty. I'll definitely look up more from this artist. 8/10

2. Klaus Nomi - Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead!
I love the Wizard Of Oz but I'm embarassed to listen to this with anyone else in the vicinity. 3/10

3. Toadies - Got A Heart
I only knew the "so help me, Jesus" song by them. I think I checked out more in the past but didn't like it. I like this, though, so I'll try again. 7/10

4. Dufus - Mor Girl Cops
I don't like this. He sounds like Marilyn Manson while the song sounds like... am I thinking of Hedwig And The Angry Inch? I think I'm thinking of the spoken word interlude from 'Tear Me Down'. 4/10

5. Neutral Milk Hotel - Ghost
Of course I love this song. Anything off this album gets a 10/10.

6. Elvis Costello & The Attractions feat. Jimmy Cliff - Seven Day Weekend
Is this a cover? It sounds like it should be. And it sounds like it would be more enjoyable if it was. Like, I'd be going "Awesome! Jimmy Cliff AND Elvis Costello together!? And they're playing this song!" and then rock out. Instead, I'm just "oh, this is alright but I don't know." 5/10

7. Versus - My Adidas
This is a Run-DMC cover, right? I don't know. I don't listen to Run-DMC. But the title sounds familiar. The only Versus song I know is 'Blade Of Grass'. I love it. This is pretty good but they sound just like somebody else who I can't put my finger on. 7/10

8. Castanets - No Light To Be Found (Fare Thee Faith, The Path Is Yours)
Is this Will Oldham? I like some of his stuff but it varies. A lot of it I'm not that into but some of it I quite like. If this isn't Will Oldham and he's not involved in any way with this, someone better call their lawyer. 5/10

9. Robert Pollard & Doug Gillard - Pop Zeus
I like Guided By Voices but a lot of it sounds pretty similar. This is a typical Pollard song. 6/10

10. Gomez - Fill My Cup
Not a fan. 3/10

11. John Zorn - Chippie
Is this, like, jazz noise-rock or something?

12. Firewater - So Long, Superman
This sounds like a lot of other artists. The song itself is okay, just really generic. 6/10

13. +/- - Crestfallen
Pretty good. 8/10

14. Two Nice Girls - I Spent My Last $10.00 (On Birth Control And Beer)
I do like this but it seems like a novelty/comedy song. I guess it's supposed to be but I never know with country. I know nothing about Two Nice Girls so it's hard to say. If they're a legit country act, this might be a sincere song. If they're not, or if they're an indie act doing a country song, it's most decisively ironic. I guess it doesn't really affect my opinion of the song one way or another, I'm just curious. 7/10

Final Thoughts:
This probably winds up being number one or number two if I were ranking the mixes I got, believe it or not. There's a couple songs I quite liked, nothing I really hated (I didn't skip any), and it didn't seem like a four hour long mix like most of the others.

I just clearly have really different music taste than the rest of the people I got hooked up with. If I were doing an exchange with bort, red, PopTodd, and MiceElf I'd probably be giving each mix a 10/10. The folks in this little grouping just groove to a different thing than I do.

I didn't know about the Run DMC song. Seems to be unrelated.
