Is the song "Billy" put on there purposely (pun intended)
I have always wanted to check out Fulks

I don't know ANY of these songs, though I didn't know any of the ones from the first mix.

I have a feeling that yr. gonna need a massive barrister to get you out of this one BUBBA.

I may have to get a new identity and a PO Box before the shipment of these buggers.

Thelonius Monster has always been one of my favorite band names BTW.

Every song deserves to be on there. It's all music to slit your wrists by.

Sample lyrics from Oh Susanna's "Billy":

"Billy, a letter it came,
said you passed away
arms so shot full of holes
no life they could hold
I'll cut off you limbs
and bury your body at sea
and leave your arms on the shore
for the buzzards to eat"

More sample lyrics:

"If you're sick of the cocaine
and driving around until it's all gone
If you're sick of the guys
who are so good at sex they can't even come
I borrowed some money
if you wanna leave

I don't wanna make you
Let's go to sleep"

The album that comes from, Couples in Trouble, is freakin' great--every song a different genre, from torch song to faux-Appalachian folk tune to Marshall Crenshaw soundalike pop and beyond. It's the only Fulks I own, which I really need to remedy.

Plus he's the guy who offered to give people free CDs if they got thrown out of Ryan Adams concerts for shouting "Summer of '69!"

I'm compiling another Power Monger mix to go along with it. Then I'll send 'em both out together.

I know it's a lot to ask, but up the Jail Quotient ;)

Are you thinking more stuff like you dropped in that Spade poll thread where we talked about late 70s JAIL bands??

Unfortunately a lot of that stuff is sitting in my vinyl collection and won't be finding its way onto any mixes until I get myself a decent turntable. But there'll be a few of them making appearances. Right now the preliminary tracklist is something like this:

Mott the Hoople "One Of The Boys"
Webb Wilder "Ain't Livin' Long Like This"
The Lime Spiders "Volatile"
Rich Hope "Sweet Vanilla"
Slow "Lookin' For Something Clean"
The Honeydogs "Glee"
The Dragons "3 Steps From The Bar"
Sonny Vincent "Flower"
Hunters & Collectors "Don't Turn Away"
The Lazy Cowgirls "Too Much (One More Time)"
Slobberbone "Haze Of Drink"
The Scramblers "Ain't That The Truth"
Andrew Matheson "Crushing The Doll (for Brian Jones)"
Whiskeytown "Drank Like A River"

Still need to find another handful of tracks -and, yeh, the jail quotient needs to be upped.

Isn't Slobberbone behind "Gimme Back my Dog" from Power Monger #1? Awesome song. I like that mix of twang and straigh ahead rock. That, and horns (though not necessarily together) really contributes to the JAIL factor, IMO.

Drank Like a River is a fucking awesome song. That album has been getting muchos play 'round these parts lately. 16 Days is a fave from that as well.
