OK....so this the deal: I'm horny for some mixes as are lots of other Obners I'm sure. Let's do a little mix project, shall we?

WHAT TO DO
- Make a mix and post a YSI for it in this thread, along with a track listing. Cover art is optional. No CDs are to be sent.
- There's no theme. Make the mix of your choice.
- Mix reviews are not required, but greatly appreciated. If you plan on writing a review, please post it in this thread. Let's try to keep everything related to the mix bonanza in one thread.
- Participation is open to all Obners, even the ones who hate me. :D
- Mixes can be posted at anytime. No deadlines. I do ask, however, that you limit your mixes to one per poster.
- Mixes must be made specifically for the mix bonanza.
- Important: Mixes are to be in MP3 format only!

Anyway, I encourage all Obners to participate. The more mixes, the better. :)

not that it matters to me, but you may want to specify that the mixes be in mp3 format.

I suppose, but I was hoping to encourage people who don't normally post mixes to do so. I'd say this is more of a mix exchange.

I'm working on a mix project exchange with a few other obners right now, and I'll post it once I send them all the hard copies, but not before. It's an exclusive little club, mind you. ;)

Okay, let's see who braves this one. Didn't try to reinvent myself, just put together a bunch of songs that I enjoy listening to and tried to make it flow, somehow. Hope you like it.

Image
BRAIN SURGERY SALAD
"El Is a Sound Of Joy" - Sun Ra
"Straight Line" - Wire
"I Know You Got Soul" - Eric B. & Rakim
"Papa Won't Leave You Henry" - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
"Through My Fingers" - Pegboy
"Pablo & Andrea" - Yo La Tengo
"Graveyard Shift" - Uncle Tupelo
"Ui! (voce inventa)" - Tom Zé
"Little Ole Country Boy" - Parliment
"Songs Of Praise" - Roy Wood
"Mental Obsession" - The Judy's
"Not Swimming Ground"(live) - Meat Puppets
"Ju Ju Man" - Brinsley Schwarz
"Albion's Daughter" - Cleaners From Venus
"Pomp and Pride" - Toots & The Maytalls
"Hometown Blues" - Steve Earle
"Line Song" - Shrimp Boat
"Another Life" - Iron Maiden
-- closing theme --

Love, Todd

Thanks Todd. Any mix that starts with Sun Ra can't be too bad, can it?

I'm guessing that the reviews are going to be extreme from song to song. Seems to be the way my tastes correlate with most people's around here. Should be interesting.

HERE

01 Johnny Hammond - Gambler's Life
02 Lootpack - Questions
03 Moodymann - Rectify
04 Kenny Larkin - My Reflection
05 Jennifer Lara - I Am In Love
06 DJ Vadim - Variations In USSR (DJ Krush remix)
07 Funkadelic - Icka Prick
08 Stevie Wonder - Jesus Children Of America
09 Jazzanova - Introspective
10 Squarepusher - Iambic 5 Poetry
11 Massive Attack - Lately
12 Nu Era - Terah
13 Excerpt from Cut Chemist Rare Equations Feat Charlie 2Na
14 Coldcut - Return to Margin (J Swinscoe mix)

There's a wordpad with the track listing but check the properties of the mp3's for release info for individual tracks. I could not find the original release date of the Jennifer Lara track, the 2005 listed is for the Soul Jazz comp. "Women of Studio One" that it was rereleased on.

Enjoy.

Downloaded and listening now. Thank you, sir!

Mine's coming along, but I have to mail mine out first, THEN I'll post a tracklisting... kind of a variation on another one I already did earlier this year.

02. here comes the phantom - the clientele
03. madonna of the wasps - robyn hitchcock
04. show me - over the rhine
05. objects of my affection - peter bjorn & john
06. time to stop talking - the rakes
07. la costa brava - ted leo
08. big city - the broken west
09. kisses for the misses - richard swift
10. big julie - jarvis cocker

Crap, I am away from the board for a short time and people are exchanging mixes again. I'm in -- will have to check back though this weekend when I'm not snowed under with work and life.

Ok, at the risk of seeming an idiot (insert self-depricating comment here)

Can I get a general instruction manual on doing this (I can pick songs, I mean the mechanics) sorry Todd, I'll need XP instructions
Thanks!

STEP 1: Create a folder on your computer.
STEP 2: Add songs to that folder.
*I'm assuming you know how to do this.*

You should make the folder (which is ultimately your mix) into a .rar file. You do this by...
STEP 3: You right click on the folder name.
STEP 4: Click on "Add to OPA MIX.rar" or whatever your mix title is.
Once you zip the file...

STEP 5: Go to www.mediafire.com
STEP 6: Upload the file (Click on Browse and find the file on your computer)

STEP 7: Post the link mediafire provides in this thread, along with your tracklisting.

Hope this helps.
