PM'S-What's the diff between Sent and Outbox??

How come it says that they're in the outbox but often not in the "Sent" box?

What is the difference? Because I wonder then if certain Private Messages are then never sent?

I think, and I could be wrong 'cause this is me talking, that they are in the Outbox until they are read by whomever you sent it to and then they are put into the Sent box.
