No one here is going to pretend that they never heard Informer. They might pretend that they know the words, on a purely kitsch level.

First cassette: Nirvana -- Incesticide

First CD: Soundgarden -- Superunknown

First (in fact, only) CD I bought and had to return at mom's behest: Adam Sandler -- They're All Going to Laught at You

First CD bought at MKE's indie-emo-hipster nexus: Live -- Throwing Copper

Viva New Rock 102.1!

And all you MKE brothers that probably feigned disinterest in it, calling it New Cock and alleging you only listened to MSE and QFM, and, maybe, if you were feeling just a little mainstream, LZR, I call bull-shit.

Suck my cock, Invisible Youth. Eat a rhinocerose's ass, Exhaust Bandits. Have a three-way with Dick and Lynne Cheney, New Blind (Bomb) Nationals.

Yeah, yeah.

K-Tel's Looney Tunes ca. 1976.

The first proper album I purchased was likely a Beach Boys or Jan & Dean record.

Or it could've been the Ray Steven's album with "Shriner's Convention" on it.

the first album i ever owned was either "the simpsons sing the blues" or the soundtrack to "teenage mutant ninja turtles: the movie", both on cassette. and both god awful.

my first cd was also soundgarden's "superunknown" when i was 12 years old. i'm pretty sure that the first cd i actually bought myself was live's "throwing copper" at some point that same year.

Believe me I'm not trying to be a smart ass here, but I always think it's so funny when people talk about owning/buying albums that are obviuosly garbage and then saying so.

[smart ass tone even though I said it wasn't] You mean the "teenage mutant ninja turtles: the movie" soundtrack wasn't good? Really? Are you sure? Cause I heard it was. Hmmmmm. That's wierd. [/smart ass tone even though I said it wasn't]

I was 11. I got into them right after 6th grade when on the last day of school, one of my best grade-school friends taped me a copy of selected songs from "The Essential Jimi Hendrix" Vol. 1 and 2 (I didn't know that's where it was from at the time though). That was probably the single most important day in my life for me, musically. (Of course, I found out a few months later that my Dad had "Smash Hits" on LP!!)

Too long ago to be sure, but if it wasn't Jefferson Airplane/ Crown Of Creation, it was something a lot like that. Hell, it was so long ago, even Steve Miller hadn't started making bad music, and that happened pretty early in his run.

The first record I ever had was a Disney record with songs from the Aristocats and Jungle Book and that sort of thing.

The first album I bought with my own money was probably a Now That's What I Call Music or Hits compilation.

The first album by a single artist I ever had was Madonna's 'True Blue' which I maintain to this day is a really good album.

I'm not going to try and pretend I was a 12 year old hipster...
