This is currently the highest-ranking album of the year on Metacritic. Just thought that was interesting.

Some goober from the Houston Chronicle gave this an extremely low rating over the weekend. His big complaint was that it was too long (CD's have ruined the concept of an "album", blah-blah). He of course felt he needed to reiterate this point throughout the whole review.

The irony was humorous, to say the least.

Eels rank up there with the Afgan Whigs for bands with the most albums I've bought and then sold. All descriptions of their music seem like something I should like, but the actual music just leaves me neither liking nor disliking. Just sorta nowhere.

I think alot of this album is hit or miss. I like maybe half the songs, but the rest bores me.

I agree for the most part. I keep the albums but see where you're coming from.
