This sucks the root. I can't fucking believe they canned it.

'Carnivale' packing up
Cabler skein calls it quits

HBO's "Carnivale""Carnivale" is leaving town.

The mystical Depression-era drama about the battle between good and evil is being shut down after two seasons, HBO confirmed Tuesday. CablerCabler had produced a total of 24 episodes of the skeinskein over its two-season run.

HBO entertainment prexyprexy Carolyn StraussCarolyn Strauss said the net had "decided not to renew 'Carnivale' " because the series had come to a natural end.

"We feel the two seasons we had on the air told the story very well, and we're proud of what everyone associated with the show accomplished," Strauss said in a statement released by the cabler.

Nick StahlNick Stahl and Clancy Brown toplined "Carnivale," which was created by Daniel Knauf. Howard KleinHoward Klein and Knauf exec produced the series.

"Obviously, I'm disappointed," Klein said of HBO's decision. "It's a show I'm incredibly proud of. There are so many positives that came out of this experience."

"Carnivale" had its share of strong reviews, and won several Emmys, but didn't draw the universal acclaim generated by other HBO dramas such as "Deadwood" or "The Sopranos." HBO also never really gave the show a break in terms of scheduling or lead-ins, slotting the second season of the show Sundays at 9 p.m. opposite "Desperate Housewives," as well as such big ticket events as the Golden Globes, Super Bowl, Grammys and Oscars.

see! and they could've made that last episode so much better by just giving it an actual ending instead of all that cliffhanger horseshit.

I watched the first season and enjoyed it but not the 2nd. (I was planning on catching up with On-Demand) Had I known that losing me as a regular viewer would signal the end of the series, I may have actually watched it.

How do you become a Nielson family btw?

Yeah, it almost seems like they were too cocky. "Yeah, we're not getting canned, let's leave the suckers wondering and waiting for Season 3 that won't be on until 2007. Wait...you're cancelling US?!! We're on HBO, you can't!!" It pisses me off.

I think they come to you. My aunt works for them, and she was telling me about the process but I wasn't really paying attention to her. But I think they target certain houses in an area.

Entourage is awesome. This season is longer than the last. Another HBO show I liked was Family Bonds.

I love Entourage as well. New Sopranos next year I believe.

The best show on HBO is The Wire. Hands down.

Interesting. I want an Arbitron book as well. I would fuck up the Neilson ratings b/c other than Survivor I never watch the networks. My Neilson top 10 would look like this:

1. Hardball (MSNBC)
2. Sportscenter (ESPN)
3. Survivor (CBS)
4. NewsNight (CNN)
5. The Wire (HBO)
6. Entourage (HBO)
7. The Sopranos (HBO) (if these 3 arent in season I watch them on-demand)
8. PTI (ESPN)
9. Countdown (MSNBC)
10. ESPNNEWS

Me 'n' Yail wouldn't see eye to eye on Sportscenter, I don't think.

Bunch of egocentric blowhards yammering on and on and on trying to out-catchphrase one an other.

Actually, I agree. That's why I watch more ESPNEWS nowadays. Sports center is still my sandman though, it pats me on the head, says my prayers and helps me sleep through the night when my gf isnt around.

the decline in quality of 6fu and the sopranos is fucking mind-numbing. the latter has gotten a little bit better, but not enough for me to sit through another 10 episodes of meadow's whining. fuck that.

Yeah, well my wife is watching NESN lots of bedtimes during baseball season, so I'm off "patting my own head" sometimes.

I love the game and the wrap-up, but there's only so much post-game sports talk I can tolerate before I'm going okay already let's play the next game.

Sucks NOW? Sportscenter hasn't been good since 1995. Kilborn started this downhill trend, an dthen left for garrer pastures.

<-------Still falls asleep to Sportscenter, though.

Yeah, I actually like Johnny Drama better than Arie (sp?). I think its good that they don't actually base plot lines around Piven (hold on, Entourage has a plot) he just drops in, fucks shit up and moves on.

6FU has become unwatchable. I agree with you on the Sopranos, it was better last season, but something is missing. I got something for Meadow that'll shut her up....

Sopranos problem is that the plot arc is the exact same EVERY Season.
Guy gets out of prison, makes trouble for Tony.
Tony has problems with his actual family
There may or may not be a snitch

over 5 seasons it gets a little trite.

You're right. I didn't mean now as in recently. I was a big Oberman fan, and I liked Dan Patrick before he started taking his job seriously.

I thought Six Feet Under was cancelled after last season.

Edit: This upcoming season is the last: http://www.hbo.com/sixfeetunder/
