I know Tannyass has been praising them for awhile, but I wanted to hear other opinions as well. Tonight was my 3rd time this year catching them live in Chicago. Everytime I consider them amazing. That jam at the end is worth my time and money alone. Fuck!

Actually Tanny, your opinion is the one that really matters.

And yes, I was well aware of how much you already loved them. How long have they been playing gigs in LA for? I swear I heard people talking about them years ago...

Well, they ARE an LA band. My former assistant told me about 'em shortly before me experiencing them for myself. I seriously didn't think they would be as good live -- my expectations were surpassed.

Btw, IdiotJed has seen them live too and shares our opinion.

I saw them open for the Secret Machines they were pretty freakin' good. I only wish they had played longer

oh so what? i don't count? pfffftttttt. i'm also a big fan of autolux. definitely exceeded my expectations live.

dmb- i think they've been playing in la for about 3-4 yrs... my ex told me he saw them play a couple years ago and was surprised when he found out the hype about them. they've been getting more recognition the past year.

Good to know they're good live. I'll be seeing them on Saturday opening for Raveonettes. Autolux is the only reason I'm going.

I checked them out after Aural kept praising them. Finally saw them with the Secret Machines, and they were awesome. Lots more feedback and noise live than on album.

I have and effing love this band. Live, they are stellar. I'm kind of surprised they haven't blown up more.

The couple of times I've seen The Raveonettes, I've not been impressed. Have they improved their stage presence?

I''ve tried to sell a friend on them but I don't think the album's tracks even begin to give an idea of how interesting these guys are live, which is why he's like oh, that's cool you like them. I love the album from start to finish, but live it's almost like they're a different band.

Anyone want to tell me why the hell they haven't headlined a tour? Opening for boring Ambulance LTD and now the Raveonettes (i jetted last night after autolux, so they could be amazing live. doubt it).

The tour a few months ago they were opening up for Moving Units and the Secret Machines. Cmon, now! Autolux should have been headlining ALL of these shows.

Good question- probably because they seem to be latching on to national tours, rather than setting out on their own regionally. I can see both schools of thought when a band is relatively new. Raveonettes and Secret Machines both have a bit more establishment (at least more records) behind them, so I can see the school of thought there. Ambulance has more hype.

I wouldn't watch a minute of Ambulance or The Raveonettes, so I think you amde the right move.

they opened for the white stripes?

hmm, when i saw the raveonettes and the warlocks play, i was more impressed by the warlocks... but i still enjoyed the raveonettes. i enjoyed them at coachella too. stage presence is a bit boring, but i dig their music so yeah.... as far as stage presence goes for autolux, they do a much better job at it.

I saw 'em headline NYE this year at Spaceland. Unfortunately for me, it was an abbreviated set.

And, Dave, I agree regarding seeing them live. It's an entirely different world. Loud-in-your-face-noise. And, seriously, I never knew a bass could do the shit that Eugene does with his.

Warlocks OWN. Love that band live and on record. I've never seen Raveonettes live, and don't own any of their stuff except Whip it On, which I love.

Fuck Raveonettes. Going for Autolux (2nd time seeing them) and leaving after their set.

I know that in between tours this spring, they were to work on an EP. I hope the had time to do so. On disc they're good, but live is much much better.

Here's a track I recorded from when they were here last Feb:

"Capital Kind Of Strain"

Autolux are f'n great live. I saw all 4 bands on the bill Saturday night. Mardo (neo-garage woohoo! music that I hate)/The Peels (more fo the same w/ a shitty girl singer)/Autolux (killed; drummer is great, songs are great, etc.)/Raveonettes (decent, but left early because they weren't really holding my attention).
I even bought my ladyfriend an Autolux t-shirt. Looks damn fine.

I have been subjected to this band twice now and each time I wonder -- who in the hell told them they were good? And wassup with that stupid swinging of the mic? Look, you dumbass, if you don't know how to swing that thing, don't bother or I'm gonna laugh REALLY loud when you bop your head with it. Ohhh, and btw, QUIT PLAYING IN LA, YOU'RE NOT WANTED HERE!
