Everything owns Tabasco, except the Chipotle, which is quite nice (as Elvis Fu has pointed out).
My personal fav: TEXAS PETE
2nd: Cholula
3rd: Cajun Chef
4th: Everything except Tabasco

And for a completely different kind of hot, how about some Hot Indian Lime Pickles? Those will heat you right up. Love hot food. Even have three kinds of peppers growing in my vegetable garden right now.

marie sharp's habanero sauce from belize.

second favorite, and what i have right now:

pain is good batch #37 - garlic hot sauce.

i try a new one almost every other week, but nothing comes close to that marie sharp's.

i like the sirracha, but only on asian foods it seems. doesn't work with eggs, french fries, mashed potatoes, etc.

Oh my God! Where the hell did you find Marie Sharp's outside of Belize. That shit is the best hot sauce in the world. Hands down. Game over.

Those fuckers know hot sauce sauce too. All they eat is rice and beans, and beans and rice.

Best topic on these boards in a while.

I can't stand spicy foods. I had some chicken type sub from Quizno's a few weeks ago and almost couldn't finish it because it was so hot, and I'm sure it was pretty mild compared to some of the hot sauces on here.

This thread also reminds of this great brunch spot in Atlanta, Front Page News. Great outdoor atmosphere and the crawfish omelet or crabcakes eggs benedict are to die for. BUT, they have a "bloody mary bar". Basically they bring you a glass of vodka and you go up to this buffet and rock out your own Bloody. They have some strange f-in hot sauces up there for sure. I tried one (can't recall the name now but im sure it required a permit) that I can still taste to this day.

I agree with Twilight----good to see the hot sauce love. Arribas grandes!

A friend of mine who thought he'd had 'em all when it came to hot sauces decided not to believe the warning on the bottle of Dave's Insanity and sprinkled his usual amount of sauce on. He watched tears literally shoot horizontally out of his eyes like windshield washer fluid.

use as a marinade or dilute teaspoon with 1/3 cup water and lemon juice for a spicy scotch bonnett zest; has a latent coolness to its spicy piquant and the flavour fully penentrates the medium rather than saucin' up like a dash of tobasco

Ingredients: Scallions, s/b hot peppers, salt, black pepper, allspice, cane vinegar, citric aci

epa, thanks for the firegirl link! i've been ordering from mike's gourmet, and now see a gang of new choices on firegirl.

will have to also check out Marie Sharp's.

a few of my coworkers use Cristal's on everything from salad to pizza. a bit mild for me personally.

There are two things that I always have in stock at the flat:
Tabasco Red (a sucker for the classics, I guess)
Colman's English Mustard (technically not a sauce, but it kicks harder than any dijon I've ever had)

Sriricha is pretty great, but you can't get it over here. Cholula = meh. I loves me some sauce and will try any of them once. Something about Tabasco makes me keep going back, though.

I cannot eat eggs without Tobasco. Other hot sauces will do in a pinch but ideally... it's got to be the classic.

Yeh! That's the stuff. You'll find it in a lot of Thai restaurants.

Yes... this stuff DOES rule.

And if you're in Chicago you MUST eat at:
Heaven On Seven

The theme of their DECOR is "Hot Souce" (the walls are litterally lined with bottles of the stuff -- and each table has at least 5 or 6 different kinds, sometimes as many as 10!)

Is Texas Pete mostly a southern sauce, or do people just not like it (besides Stu)?

It's pretty much the only stuff I have ever used, but I'm not a huge hot sauce buff.
