every time that little box popped up on itunes (when I connected the ipod to my computer) to 'update the ipod software,' i always skipped it thinking 'why update? it works fine as is.' so, the most recent time it popped up, i thought that I should get recent and hop to it. Clicked ok, ipod never to turn on again. itunes didn't recognize it, tried all the necessary resets, etc, even took it into the Apple Store to get looked at my their iPod specialist. He deemed it fucked. it is a few months past the warranty, so he gave me websites where I can send to to try to get fixed.

a fantastic little thing when working properly, but really, I think every person that I know who has/had one of these had at least one technical problem at some point. this really blows, dudes.

If its just a software or whatever problem, i would try ipodresq.com. I am gonna send mine into them and I can ASSURE you mine is in worse shape, asthe screen looks like and oil spill, and the fucking headphone jack is bent.

Those Ipods may be the only thing in the world more high maintenance and tempramental than my ex-wife. I don't understand why anyone buys them when there are tons of other mp3 players out there with sound quality and storage that's at least equal for the money and that seem more user friendly and reliable.

Have you noticed any my Zen's fucked again threads? no. My Digital Mind player is fucked? No. Seriously, why do you folks buy those Ipods. I don't get it.

yeah, i've heard iriver's are good. maybe that will be the next purchase. I haven't done any investigating into any of these

the difference isn't that itunes doesn't recognize it or there isn't any music on it, but it's completely dead. and it's always in the charger, so I know that's not the problem, and the Apple Store dude checked for the battery as well. it's just crapped on out.

I've never taken a poll but I would guess the ratio of Ipod Users to everything else on the board was more like 70/30 than 30/1. At least it seems that way based on the threads when someone says they are shopping mp3 players and asks for advice. I'm sure many people have had no problems with their Ipods but I don't think its an accident or merely that there are more ipod owners causing these threads to appear several times every week complaining about IPODs and never complaining about any other other ones.

my Ipod seems to like to quit working for no apparent reason on a weekly basis,like it doesn't want to go with me. Usually I just plug it in to the wall charger, unplug it, use it, plug it into wall charger, repeat... so I have no idea why it hates me like this, I just sort of file under:

No I don't own a Zen...I own the 100 gig version of this. I love it. I'd definitely get a Zen before I'd get an Ipod though.

Though nobody seems to bitch about it here, I've real many reviews for the Rio Karma saying that hard drive failures occur pretty regularly. I'd steer clear of it.
