KC & THE SUNSHINE BAND – Boogie Shoes
STEALERS WHEEL – Stuck In The Middle With You
THE ROLLING STONES – Paint It Black
CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL – Have You Ever Seen The Rain?

I'd hearitly recommend Midnight Train to Georgia by Gladys Night and the Pips. And, how about the Gap Band, You Dropped a Bomb on Me. For some classic rock, I'd suggest maybe something mellow by Thin LIzzy, like Romeo And The Lonely Girl, Running Back or the Cowboy Song.

God, I have like 2 or 3 ideas, but it occurs to me that I don't know the names of the songs I'm thinking of. I suck.

Stevie Wonder, "you can feel it all over" would work, or there's another one from that Aquarium era that I can't think of a line from... dammit, sorry. I want to help tho.

I notice you've got three songs from 'Boogie Nights'. I don't know if you'd want to add anymore, but these are well known songs and would fit with the mix

I Want to Be Free-Ohio Players
Fooled Around and Fell in Love - Elvin Bishop

Some Bill Withers, maybe 'Use Me' or 'Inside My Love' by Minnie Riperton.

Oh, and Badfinger had like 2 or 3 killer songs that really fall into that rare category of "everyone knows them but they're not overplayed," like Come And Get It and dammit 2 more I suddenly can't recall. I think this coffee is making me dumber.

Edit: Day After Day. Thanks to the wife / Busty.

dobie gray - drift away

it's a great tune, and everyone will groove and sing along when it goes "gimme the beat boys and free my soul, I want to get lost in your rock'n'roll and drift away..."

bort

also check out bort mix # 5 (near the end) for some ideas.

I have a version of The Stones doing this. Just a fucking hott song.

I might go with something mongerous by T. Rex like "Get it On (Bang A Gong)" or "Mambo Sun"

Speaking of Stones and hot, what about 'Hot Stuff', 'Shattered' or 'Miss You', all are pretty groovy. Which makes me think 'New York Groove', Ace Frehley as well. If it was me, I'd also put Kiss' 'Shandi' in, but that's just me and everybody usually hates me for it.

Find "Lovin' You Ain't Easy" or "Some Sing, Some Dance" by Michel Pagliaro. You probably don't recognize the name, but chances are good you'll know 'em when you hear 'em.

You need some Roy Ayers on this disc [Coffy Is the Color, King George, or Get on Up, Get on Down]. Without Roy, it just won't be complete.

Also, on the greasy disco tip:

Kleeer - Tonights The Night
Skyy - Here's To You

Bah.

How about Curtis Mayfield's "Move On Up" since it's now being used in Toyota commercials.

Joe Tex, "Ain't Gonna Bump No More (With No Big Fat Woman)"
Meters, "Just Kissed My Baby"
Temptations, "Cloud Nine"
Pointer Sisters, "How Long (Betcha Gotta Chick On The Side)"
William DeVaughn, "Be Thankful For What You Got"

and ANYTHING by Blowfly.

Every time I hear this song, I spend the rest of the day singing it. Excellent choice!
