I think it's great. I think they are one of the best bands around though.

i love it. i've never been that big on SK's earlier work...but this one is great.

currently #10 on the elephantstone hott 100 for 2005.

They are playing a seated theatre Tuesday night for the first time, it should be surreal. I'm unabashedly biased towards Sk and Built to Spill. KEXP adopted the DBT's and psuhed the hell out of that record. You guys who love them would love our local roots rock boys the Radio Nationals, very much in the DBT vein.

In fact, the Trucker die hards should stream kexp on Wed nights from 6-9 Pacific Time (add whatevere needs to be added for your time zone) and listen to a show called The Roadhouse. A guy named Greg Vandy who tends bar a few places here does a roots rock show for three hours and plays some amazing stuff.

He got hooked on the music living in the south and it is in my opinion the best three hours of programming on KEXP.

i think taht Hood album is like the most overlooked record this year.

and that National record is one of the most overrated.

I stream kexp pretty regularly (i've tapered off since the lineup change--I was a big fan of Amanda in the afternoons and miss her dearly) but ive listened to G. Vandy's show many many times; its in regular wednesday night rotation at Redlands.

You're going to get me started on the bullshit which took Stevie and Amanda off the air and DHR Jericho is going to get mad at me for ripping the station again. I stay in e-mail contact with Amanda and she has a show on one of the University of Washington stations now, but it is unfortunately not streamed. I'll tell her that GA represents for her.

i think they get compared to radiohead a lot but i think it's just because of their use of electronics and that people are lazy. i really have no idea who they sound like. amg lists mogwai, tortoise, american analog set and mouse on mars as similar artists. they seem to be more song oriented on the new album as on their past ones though.

<= Big S/K nut since Call the Doctor and love it. Expects a fair share of non-fans to dig it, too.

i have never really listened to anything by this band. i am listening to the new cd as we speak. musically it is good, but the vocals are starting to annoy me. so i am basically on the fence with this album.

That's me. Never been too keen with s/k, but trustworthy peers say the woods is the nazz. I'll take the bait.

I hadn't really heard their stuff until this album. I like it a lot so far.

this pretty much sums up my feelings...I've got to be in the right mood for those wails, and I'm not in that mood much these days...I can definitely handle a song or two strung together, like on a mix or the radio or something

Zep and S-K in same sentence equals mastery.

I've got all their albums, so far I like this one as it's quite different from their past albums. I'll need a few more listens before I decide if it's merely 'good' or 'great'. The Hot Rock is still my favourite.

What he said, but I'm leaning toward 'great.' I do have a nasty Hot Rock bias as its my S-K point of entry.
