i don't have a pair, so i can't comment on the comfort level. but everyone i know who has a pair loves 'em.
there are a bunch of different kinds too, i just posted one example. might be too teva-ish.

I have something similar to these and where them everywhere.

Not fruity in the least IMO. Although if you are going on a cruise, the sandals may be the least of your concerns. Is it even possible to not look fruity while playing shuffleboard?

It's a small-yacht cruise, so I'll be dodging the shuffleboard bullet.

That entire Reef catalogue is a gayass version of the shit Methuselah wore on his feet.

I personally don't own a pair, but Rainbows are HUGE with all of my friends and in North Carolina in general. They are good quality and last awhile, but are going to run you at least $40. These are the standard ones:

But they have all kinds of colors and materials.

If you're going to a humid location, leather flip flops or sandals are not very comfortable. The best flip flops for this sort of thing are the Eddie Bauer ones. Very light on your feet and very comfortable. Old Navy, J-Crew and others make similar ones but Eddie Bauers are the best.

Check them out...

NC can get pretty humid in the summer, and none of my friends ever have problems with their leather sandals. I don't think its really that much of an issue.

Sure. Not much of an issue if you wear 'em on your feet.

If I had had on sandals the day I first met my wife we probably would not be married right now. One of her pet peeves

This was going to be my suggestion. They are damn popular and comfortable. I know people who backpacked all through Europe with these bad boys.

Also havaianas are top notch brazilian flip flops.

White tennis shoes in general, unless Pumas or Adidas Stan Smith's should = INSTANT DEATH. So should the Doc Marten style Mandals that would make my feet hotter than wearing Redwings in the summer.

The height of white man shmucker fashion.
