I thought of you Phil after I posted this. My undergrad was best suited to be coupled with a teaching cert, and over the years as jobs have come and gone, I've thought about teaching several times. But every time I do, someone who teaches talks me out of it. I don't know if I could do it up here, not that I have to worry about it anymore. What a thankless job.
Yeah, you work countless hours over your contract, you get bitched out by students, parents, administration, and other teachers, and then they give you a couple months to recuperate or do "continuing education" and then you sign on for another fucking year. This time of year is BAAAAD.
Find a real job, and make real money, which is the only true thanks one needs. Keep your god damn dry ass gritty store bought oatmeal raisin cookies to yourself on teacher appreciation day.
The thing is, i'd say most of the teachers I've met are really good to great teachers. The ones that suck aren't that prevalent, but they suck so bad that it gives the rest of us a bad rep.
