Yeah, RH did some great acoustic things for a while:

Invisible Hitchcock
I Often Dream Of Trains
Eye

These are the three albums you want...strike that, these are the three albums you need.

The other unplugged set that was particularly notable for me (other than the obvious faves) was Midnight Oil. Fanfuckintastic.

I'm intrigued....wasn't aware they did this. Any ideas where I can find it?

People very easily overlook the fact that the Oils were stellar musicians. I saw 'em do a three hour gig back in '88, it was phenomenal. While not entirely acoustic, A Place Without A Postcard is an album everyone should hear.

After a bit of googling I found this: http://eil.com/shop/moreinfo.asp?catalogid=155068

and this: http://www.deadheart.org.uk/opinion/articles/misc.php?article_id=32

I'm sure one of the fan sites will have the video.

For us Pretenders fans, the Isle of View live video & CD is pretty good. Chrissie sings the shit out of a slowed-down with strings version of "Kid."

Pete Townshend really needs to do an acoustic live album; his acoustic guitar playing is massive, as evidenced by many demoes and solo live cuts over the years. I've got a live version of "Drowned" from The Secret Policeman's Ball that sounds like it's about to gloriously derail at any second; it's hard to believe one guitar can be that exciting.

Collective Soul? ....(shudder)... They also have a new single out that is "Living After Midnight" and "Where Are We Running" interspliced.

<---- not proud they're from GA too.

But as I recall, they were broken for nat'l consumption by an fm rock station in Orlando. So, once again, you Empire State of the South dOOdz can blame Florida. Blame it, I say.

Yer gonna think I'm goofy here ( & maybe Spade can get my back ) , but the KISS "Unplugged" album is really, really good. The format gives a lot of their more obscure songs ( stuff like "Goin' Blind" ) a chance to shine.

And "Grievous Acoustic Behaviour" by Ginger ( of the Wildhearts ) is one of my all-time favorite live records, period. You can almost smell the smoke & feel the stickiness of the bar floor listening to it.

X- Unclogged, acoustic versions of x tunes, great idea, well exceuted.

...and, I don't know if you mean stuff that was originally acoustic rather than acoustic versions of other stuff as seems to be most of the posts, but the 2 David Johansen & the Harry Smniths records are great. They are acoustic blues tunes, mostly from the 30s and 40s done by David Johansen and an excellent band. He sounds great in this setting and the band really is top notch. Great recording too.
