you know i've managed to go this far without hearing a single song of his? so i think i'm gonna hold out for him to put out a state that i've lived in. because i'm a jackass.

I went to 2 independent music stores in Harvard Square looking for this, and they were both of the mostly-disorganized-mostly-used-stuff-from-2000-and-playing-srv variety, and hadn't even heard of Suffy. So I went to Tower, where they had one copy of the superman version, which I bought. Then I realized Newbury Comics was right there, and they had many copies, for $5 less. Needless to say, the other copy went straight back to Tower.

I like it. Definitely RIYL Michigan. "Chicago" is a remix of "A Good Man is Hard to Find," which is neat.

I really like it after being resistent to it for a little while. My dad's endorsement of it is what brought me back. He's amazing at what he does. Is it me, though, or is there some serious repetition of past melodies of his in some of these songs? I don't know that it exhibits much growth between records as some of his previous work, ie. "Enjoy Your Rabbit" and whatever bounded it. Anyway. I back.

I could do without the novel-length song titles though.

I've not really heard it properly yet but I've kinda flicked through it and the songs with 'normal' titles seemed to be by far the best ones.

Does anyone know the real story on the Superman thing? Is he/the label removing the Superman from the cover? How many were printed with it on there (I'm assuming the first full run, but I have no idea how many that is).

I bought this last night at the local indie store and they had a stack of about 20 (and probably some more stored elsewhere out of view), all with the Superman cover. I can't imagine that it's really a rare thing.

There is no recall - the label can't ship out anymore with the Superman cover, but stores can continue selling the ones they've got.

No album in history needs to be 74 minutes long.

"Jacksonville" sounds like a Beck song (mixed with a Sufjan Stevens song, of course).

I sold that Superman version on ebay last year for like $14.

I lost out twice. Once on the investment and once for the listening torture.

Is Sufjan Obner's most divisive artist?

If they haven't already, in five years time everyone (girls included) will forget this guy ever existed.
