what is the most famous person you're connected to?

My mum taught Nick Cave and various members of the Boys Next Door/Birthday Party and ultimately the Bad Seeds at Caulfield Grammar in Melbourne in the seventies. Which practically makes him my brother. Top that shit.

Does she ever talk to him anymore?
If so, can I talk to your mom? Please?

My dad was the photographer for AC/DC a while ago.

My friends dad smoked with Jerry Garcia. I guess that's a semi connection.
Also, my art teachers friend dated Robert Rauschenberg (I guess this was before he was gay?)...

As a journalist my mother interviewed luminaries that included Colonel Sanders, Cassius Clay, and Robert Plant.

Yeah, that's all I got. No one in my family is even remotely famous or connected to someone who is.

she didn't even realise 'till a couple of months ago i told her i was going to a Nick Cave show, and then she said, "oh i think i used to teach that boy", then i worked out the dates and shit and she found an old school photo. He pretty much looked like this.

With the short hair n' shit.

Does that person have to be living? Cuz if it's ok for the person to be dead than it would be Pancho Villa. My great-grandfather fought alongside him.

One of my friends dated Andy Gibb (another dead person).

One of my best friends was Marty Ingels' (famous old comedian and Shirley Jones' husband) assistant. She often spoke to all the Cassidys (Shaun, Patrick, Ryan and David) and Shirley, of course.

My high school produced a lot of famous college and pro football players. And I believe a guy I went to high school with is the general manager of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, though, I don't know if that's true anymore.

Nope. It would be cool. My dad has long lost his AC/DC days, he's traded them in for Keith Urban and Travis Tritt.

Greg Norman went to my school and we praise him and name buildings and shit after him, but it turns out he was expelled for misconduct. Way to play grab ass with a rich guy, you funding-hungry wankers.

Oh, also, i was with my friend in Sydney, and we went to get lunch in this cafe, and we saw Nicole Kidman in there, so we're like 'cool let's sit near her and bathe in her reflected glory', but there were no tables left. Then, her and her friend got up to leave, and hers was the only table available. So we sat down when they left, and my friend sat in the exact seat as her. He said it was still very much quite warm. If that's not a sweet hookup with a famous person, then stone the bloody crows.

PLus my dad used to live next to the guy who plays Caleb Nicol on the O.C.

My dad is still cool.. Even though he used to ride a Harley and traded that in for golf clubs. Not that golf is bad, I just really miss the bike.

If you stand in the lobby of the building I work in, you'll see celebrities walking in and out all day long. I've never done that but maybe I should one day.

Pretty soon I plan on being friends with Tom Waits or Nick Cave. I'm going to write letters to Ellen Degeneres everyday and she's going to make my dream come true and let me have a conversation with one of them. Hopefully....

Don't worry, not everyone can be as celebrity-hooked-up-with as me. You gotta take the good with the bad.

I've told this story before but here goes.

My mum was wittering on at me about something or other. You know how they are...the price of mince...Mrs Bowman's daughter....new shop opening...fascinating.....you just kind of blot it out as background noise don't you?

Well that's what I did and after about ten minutes of her blahing and me thinking about something else I sort of retuned into to the conversation and I swear on my life this is what I heard.

".....I'd left my shoes in Marc Bolan's dressing room and I had to walk home in bare feet!"

That's what she said. I've never asked her about it again because I kinda like NOT knowing what happened before that.

- Lived down the street for Jamie Farr's niece. This year, my dad actually helped coordinate a charity function for his annual golf tournament. Celebrites at said function included Jim Kelly and Ben Roethlisberger.
- Cousin's tennis buddy used to coach Pete Sampras.
- Went to high school with a kid named Jake Holmes. Dad is convinced he's Katie's older brother, but that's never been confirmed.

Deborah Harry used to babysit my ex-girlfriend from 4-6 years old. Does that count?

Since my dad is a Teamster and does transportation for the movies they shoot here in Chicago, there are quite a few.

Those aside, my mom had a few childhood playmates that, not famous in their own right.... their parents are.

On the South side my grandparents were good friends with the Chess family. Yeah, Chess Records. And my mom and aunt would play with their little girls at the studio sometime. This was in the early-mid 1950s. Of course, she was completely clueless as to who all these "black men with guitars" were. But just the thought of the history my mom witnessed --- and then forgot.

And, I've mentioned before, that I am related (through marriage) to Abe Sapperstein - the founder of the Harlem Globetrotters.

And just a few of the people my dad has worked with on movies:
Joe Pesci
Steve Martin
Jennifer Anniston (just a couple weeks ago)
Daniel Stern
Jessica Lange
Kelly McGillis
Fred Savage (he was 12 at the time)
John Candy
David Duchovney (he and Tea gave me and Sharon baby advice through my dad when we were expecting Cary)
Peter "Ralphie" Billingsley (just last month)

PERSONALLY:
•Dave Draiman (lead singer for Disturbed), who's a damn nice guy
•Nash Kato (used to hang out where my old band rehearsed)
•Tim King (bassist/songwriter for metal band SOiL) - we used to work together.
•Stanley Kubrick (I interviewed for the role of "Danny" in Teh shining when I was 7)

Colleen from Survivor (and that gawd-awful movie with Rob Shneider) used to just be some chick that occasionally hung out with us in Athens. I have a pic in the garage somewhere of Me, Bloor, another guy, and her all sitting around watching a movie.

Cap'n = Not very connected.

Distant cousin to Kevin Nealon. Met Phil Hartman in '90 through him.
