Office Depot will be cutting all iPod prices by up to 20% this next week starting Sunday the 21st. The prices for each iPod assuming the maximum 20% decrease will be:

30gig 4G $279.99
20gig 4G $219.99
4gig Mini $159.99
1gig Shuffle $103.99
512Meg Shuffle $79.99

Note that these are all the discontinued Apple + HP models.

Also note that selection varies by store, while supplies last, no rain checks, and available IN STORES ONLY.

it's too bad I never save any money. I have 106 dollars and some change to my name until next Wednesday... and I don't want an Ipod shuffle.

Go for the 30. I have a 60 and appreciate the size. So does my lady.

Don't waste your money on the warranty. It comes with a 1 year from Apple. If you find yourself with problem near the end of the first year, then I'd suggest thinking about adding it. Don't dump the money into it until you're nearing the end of your Apple warranty, is all I'm saying.

Me? Not a single problem and it goes with me everywhere, all day. It's been dropped from four feet up and it's fine (granted it's in an ISkin - buy one immediately!) I think my lack of problems stems from the fact that I treat it like a computer and not a toy and I reformat it every month or two to keep both the contents fresh and to clean off the drive. Maybe some big problem is lurking waiting to develop, but until them I'm going to champion the hell out of the Ipod. Ripping on the Ipod seems to be the current in thing to do.

boy, do i disagree with you. i too hate the whole warranty sham, but with the ipod is necessary. keep in mind 1st-3rd generation had major battery probs (i even got a 50 dollar credit via COURT ORDER). i got mine replaced for over the years for FREE. after a year with the standard warranty you are HOSED.

NEWFLASH - lithium batteries DEGRADE over time. for battery replacement alone its worth it. i also got 3 new ipods out of it as well. we are talking about 40 bucks here which is nothing compared to th overall price. just b/c you havent had any probs doesnt mean you should steer people away. let's face it - its a complicated electronic machine with a HD with a bizillion things that could go wrong.

It's not worth it when you don't have any problems. Please read my entire response - I clearly stated that you should save your money until your one-year warranty with Apple is nearly up, then add it if you feel the need.

A new battery can be bought for $29.95 from http://www.ipodbattery.com/ and installed yourself - no sending it off to Apple for 2+ weeks, no shipping charges, etc.

Download the latest Updater here. (That's another rule I forgot to mention - always install the latest updater, even if you think there's nothing you want in it. Apple fixes minor issues with the Ipod software with these releases.) Run it, and when the screen pops up, choose "Restore" instead of just "Update." Restore wipes your Ipod completely clean and reinstalls the software, then you reload your music. (And, of course, Update does exactly what the word says: updates it with the latest software, but doesn't reformat the drive at all.)

i did read your post

you CANNOT wait a year to get a warranty from BB, CC, etc...maybe from apple but that sucks b/c you always have to send it in.

with my experience, BB just gave me a NEW UNIT. i didnt have to do this send in BS that you are talking about.

buying one battery 30 bucks is damn near the warranty cost not to mention getting underneath the hood could lead to trouble.

Woah, that site has a picture of the 1G and 2G iPods. I had never even seen one before, lol.

Good to know mot, that I can get a new battery, since I won my iPod, and had no chance of getting a warranty.

Look at the instructions - it's very, very simple to replace the battery.

Best Buy (and everyone) stopped their "product replacement plan" and put in place a "product service plan" because people were bringing perfectly good Ipods in and replacing them with the latest just-released versions by claiming there were minor problems. Now, if you use any store-bought warranty, you will take your Ipod to the store who will take it for however long they feel like is needed to determine if there's a problem, and if there is, THEN they'll send it on to Apple. If you use the Apple warranty, you contact Apple, they send you a box the next day, you ship it back out (free), and you should have some news shortly. My coworker just did this with his mini and got it back two weeks to the day after shipping it out.

Thanks for the hedzup Dalen.

I've been wanting to hop on this ipod train for some time now. Who knows? It will probably force me to get high-speed isp.
I just hope that the canadian stores offer this deal.

Cheers,
