Yeah it's pretty good. I've disliked nearly everything they've done the past twenty years, but maybe this new one (since it was recorded quickly and without endless studio b.s.) is a lot better.

Is that the one that with the opening line about "I knew you when you were a baby chicken," or did I just dream that?

It doesn't sound like "Love In Vain", does it?

billboard sez:

The Rolling Stones' new single, "Streets of Love"/"Rough Justice
was recorded in summer 2004 and produced by Don Was. Both tracks will be included on the band's first studio album since 1997's "Bridges To Babylon," which is due in early September and has yet to be given a confirmed title.

If it's the one with rampant slide guitar, the first mate and I both did a slow double take at the radio last week when we heard it... took a little while to realize who it was, and we both liked it.

I'd like to see the Stones put out an actual good album before someone croaks. Maybe this is it...after all, it's been 24 years or so since they last managed one, eh?

Rough Justice is the one you heard, and it fucking rocks. I was driving through ATL on Saturday and caught this bugger on the radio. (Yeah it's the baby chicken/cock one) I WILL BE BUYING THIS WITH TODAY'S LUNCH MONEY.

I just heard the whole thing on the radio for the first time. I thought it fucking rocked as well. Am interested in how the rest will stack up. It frightens me a little that its nearly as long as Exile. The Stones in '72 could pull of an Exile length. I wonder if the '05 Stones have the moxie to do it., because the last couple have been too long by far. They need to release an album exactly 38 min long.

"Rough Justice" isn't bad. But it's the sort of thing Mick and Keef toss off in their sleep, and the slide work is a little nondescript. About the only way I'll spend money on a new Stones album would be if they temporarily invited Mick Taylor back into the fold and stopped acting like the Stones and just facking were the Stones.

Truly one of the most underrated guitarists ever to strap on a six-string.
