Been listening to this over the last few days, and damn is it good, especially "Major Label Debut" and "Windsurfing Nation". Such great tunes. Another headphone album for sure.

Anyone else have a listen yet? Optical Walnut?

Dri, it'll be just as good when it comes out. Fuck these people who get off on telling people they've heard something before everyone else. They'll be tired of it when we are enjoying a month from now.

you fool.

i guess i should wait until it's released before i say anything. yeah, that sounds like a plan. hurtin'.

many people might not even know that it's coming out, so this could be good news to them. this sin't fucking show-n-tell, it's a message board to trade info with others.

dri, if you want it, lemme know.

I try not to listen to albums before they come out, just because I won't really be excited to go out and buy the thing once it actually is released. I've heard one song from this album (7/4?) and it was terrible.

Yeah, I like the single but I'm not going to hear the album until I buy it on October 4th.

Does Feist sing lead vocals on any of the songs on their last album? Her album is kicking my ass right now.

I noticed it a this album was floating around in Usenet, albeit incomplete on my local servers. I figured it was only time before it was everywhere.

I'm looking forward to this in a major way. YFIP is probably one of my favourite albums, all time. And I thought the new single was fuckin' brilliant.

I also didn't get the comment regarding people posting about hearing an advance on the album. That was just fucking stupid, if anything, it increases anticipation. Dalen gets them early AND shares them with everyone. He's the man.

Kevin Drew has publicly stated that internet file sharing has made the band what it is today.

Yeah, read that, but prior to, Kevin Drew has publicly stated that internet file sharing has made the band what it is today.

I'm willing to give anything a fair shot, but good god, this is awful. Those vocals....ugh. Reminds me of Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah from that viewpoint.

What in the hell is he saying in the chorus? "I'm so fucked up"?

No Lie DumpJack , just about word for word what I was gonna say. We should be so lucky that someone gives us a heads up and shares his thoughts with us. May not always agree with them thoughts but you gotta love Dalen's enthusiasm with wanting to share with all us music geeks.

BTW , great track Dalen. Can't wait to add this to the collection.

Just in the way that they don't fully pronounce anything, making it impossible to understand what they're saying. Hence the "from that viewpoint".

I don't generally download before a release- I have enough to listen to and I have the Mac at home PC at work thing so I'd be constantly split on where my downloads are.

That being said- Dalen brings a lot of stuff out that is not on anyone's radar and I'll check out the band website's & sample stuff there. So, what he does is great- his intentions are obvious, sharing cool music with fellow music fans.

Now, I don't think MNSAA loses all credibility for disliking a band, but considering that Broken Social Scene has four band members who sing lead, I think the vocal criticism is a bit much.

For the record, BSS were/are one of the better live bands I've seen in the last few years, and David Byrne, Isaac Brock, Curt Kirkwood, Bob Dylan and Neil Young are some examples of singers whose voices are a bit disarming at first, but hardly affect the long term quality of their output.

Just my two cents.

pt. taken but I don't think you mean to use "disarming."

All this talk about album leaks months before they're to be released has really turned me off to the albums once they've actually been released. I avoided downloading The New Pornographers' album in order to be excited about buying it, but when I saw it in the store, I thought, "Meh." It's just hard to be excited about it after knowing it's been readily available for so long.

Not that y'all bastards for talking about leaks or anything. I'm just sayin'.
