No one said their grief doesn't count. I merely said it doesn't measure up to tsunami proportions. It's like comparing a stubbed toe to an amputation.

I get it now...the Obnish are the arbiters of taste, style and GRIEF now. I understand. As long as someone is as enlightened and educated as the average a-hole who posts here (some kind of liberal arts degree will suffice as the average in my mind) OR is a noble savage from some pristine and wonderful place that got destroyed by a wave, his grief and statements count.

Good to know.

this is a message board. if we don't post our opinions on crap what will we have? pictures of our pets and discussions of the weather? sure our opinions don't count but who really gives a fuh?

And YOU are the one to make that distinction, thanks. I want you on a jury ASAP.

Well, judging from this thread, we may want to leave the weather out of this.

Both sides are right.
From the point of view of somebody who was not in the thick of the storm, it's a ridiculous comparison. More than 200,000 lost versus 100.

Still, one human life is priceless.

And, for those in the thick of the shit, it must have seemed like God himself was beating the piss out of them and their home. I'm sure it was terrifying.

Perspective, people.
Perspective.

GOD guys, I swear that people(ON BOTH SIDES of this argument) need to stop their crying - sometimes I'd swear this was a DRAG QUEEN forum rather than a MUSIC forum due to all of the DRAMA. That goes both ways - there have been a number of times I've sided with the ATL crew on arguments where I thought that some of the Chicago or NY crews were making mountains out of molehills, but here I can't....nobody is trying to minimize the pain and suffering that this catastrophe is causing but it is pretty ludicrous to say that it in any way compares to the tsunami....that's all Bill was trying to say - the NASCAR comment was just a sarcastic comment thrown in, as MANY of us do when discussing things.

The truest statement in this thread.

I think I told Loog to climb a beach lifeguard tower, call me, and send back reports of what the weather's like.

The "our tsunami" comment was stupid but understandable in this situation. It would be just as stupid-yet-understandable if said by a northerner, a southerner, an east-coaster, or a Canadian.

Y'all need to lighten up.

But see, they like NASCAR, so its funny when you point and laugh at them. Except the black people, they deserve our simpathy.

We've got to keep arguing until everyone gives in and there is a general consensus and we turn into an echo chamber.
