I have a downloaded version that is missing one track, but i'll get the track from MNSAA and i'll get you a YSI link later this afternoon if you'd like, so you can see how you like it. I like the album a lot, I haven't heard everything Xiu Xiu has put out so I can't exactly compare it to "this album" or something like that. But I like it enough to go to DC tomorrow to see them.

So far, it's pretty cool.

I'm the biggest Xiu Xiu that I know of, online or not, so I'm obviously biased, but I think La Foret is one of the very best releases of the year.

That said, it's probably one of Xiu Xiu's worst releases. It's not quite as accessible as Fabulous Muscles, which when talking about Xiu Xiu is a good thing in my opinion, but the level of songwritiing isn't as high either. It's still a great album, and in my top three of the year so far, but it's nowhere NEAR the level of Knife Play, which is by far their best release.

Thanks. A link would be awesome.

Also, waiting to see how you like 'em live.

Fabulous Muscles is what I'm most familiar with.

Knife Play is what I need to hear, huh?

Cool,

If you have Itunes, I can send you a copy (with the files in Itunes-supported .m4a format) of either Knife Play or La Foret. I don't have mp3s of either, otherwise I'd send you that.

Have you heard A Promise?

You know, La Foret deserves more credit than I gave it in my first post in this thread. The songwriting is actually probably stronger than on Fabulous Muscles, albeit in a different kind of way.

La Foret definitely has more of Xiu Xiu's signature changes from whispers into blasts of electronic noise, much in the same way as A Promise. I think it's an album that works best when you really sit down and listen to it, not as background noise.

I'd probably rank their major releases as:

Knife Play
A Promise
La Foret
Fabulous Muscles

A Promise isn't as consistently strong as La Foret, but it experiments more (which is a plus for me) and has bigger high points.
