Lost in La Mancha was on Saturday, it's so depressing. So then I had to pull out my copy of AFI Directors Terry Gilliam on Sunday to balance it out. So I did a lot of Gilliam thinking over the weekend (I even tried unsuccessfully to land Time Bandits DVD today). Tideland better be good is all I have to say. He's 10 years removed from his last critical & box office success 12 Monkeys, since then he's done Fear & Loathing... which only landed 39% positive reviews, Don Quixote which didn't happen & now Brothers Grimm. He turns 65 in November, you wonder how many more chances he'll get. He deserves more, he's Terry Fuckin' Gilliam, but how many if any will the studios give him?

I really dug The Brothers Grimm. It's a mess and it doesn't make much sense, but Heath Ledger gives a worthy performance and it's got just enough TG batshit insanity to keep me entertained. And the art design is fucking incredible.

There's got to be more of us out there, right?

It's doing well for admissions at my theatre.

The Constant Gardener is (much) better film, though.
