What's yr. favorite Willie Song?
This cover of "Always on My Mind" got me to thinking how much I love this song. For all the wrong reasons. It could work as the perfect theme song for my parents marriage (along with companion piece, "Good Hearted Woman")

That said, I think "Mama's Don't Let Your Babies" is my favorite.

And if you say you don't like Willie, do us all a favor and kill yourself before you breed.

Ryan Adams covered Always on My Mind? Wow, that's pretty bold

I think Toddy has a real soft spot for this song too

There's too many to really choose, but I'd go with "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys".

As far as duets go, "Seven Spanish Angels" with Ray Charles to me is total qual.

I've always loved "Nothing I Can Do About it Now", but it's really hard to beat "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain".

Best duets dual: "Good Hearted Woman" vs "Pancho and Lefty".

Can't narrow it down to one or two:

1. The entire first disc of Willie and Family Live

2. Last Thing I Need First Thing This Morning

3. I Never Cared For You

4. Pancho & Lefty (Willie's version)

5. Still Is Still Moving To Me

I know I've already contributed, but I have to throw in the live duet of Willie and Paul Simon performing "Homeward Bound". A surprisingly good vocal combination between the two, and some damn fine guitar work by the man.

Their version of "Graceland" is sweet.

This thread could honestly go on forever.

Yeah, Sonny Gunz and I had an odd bonding moment when we discovered that we were both huge fans of that tune.

Kinda like when Scotty D discovered my 80's hiphop vinyl.

This could be its own thread. "How Yail Bloor came to an understanding with my maniac friends"

One of my best concert memories was seeing the Supersuckers cover this as an encore, with local favorite Ernie Locke ( Sin City Disciples/Tenderloin/Parlay ) joining them on harmonica. They got a packed crowd of 300 chanting "WIL-LIE NEL-SON!!! WIL-LIE NEL-SON!!!!!" for what seemed like an hour straight.

"Always On My Mind" is good, but about every damn song on Phases and Stages should be in some sort of Hall of Fame.

and all of Teatro, maybe its the Lanois production and his voice/guitar work that match so well, too.

Then again, I pretty much like anything the guy sings...even digging that reggae album he put out this year.
