Are we talking Willie original or interpretation? "Blue Eyes' ain't a Willie composition. Saw Crazy n Hello Walls, add Night Life n Funny How Time Slips Away. Old songs his best, pre-Columbia/superstardom.

Whatever song is coming out of his mouth at that very moment is my favorite at that moment.

But if you're looking for names:
Always On My Mind (yes I know it's a cover... but he makes every song his own. Even other people's)
Crazy
Hello Walls
Mamas Don't Let Your Babies...
The Rainbow Connection

I'm surprised you don't like it. Sounds fine to me.

(btw, not surprised at all E-Fu hates it, he hates EVERYTHING)

I have a problem when these alt-country guys trying to go straighter laced country without the more modern rock and roll influences. My problem isn't with their intent, but their execution. It's almost as if they are too busy admiring traditional country music without necessarily feeling it, which makes it sound half-baked or almost karaoke-like.

This goes for Uncle Tupelo, too.

No love for Stardust? A cover, I know, but it always gets me.

My fav Willie cover is his heart-obliterating rendition of Leon Russell's "A Song for You." My fav Willie original is "Devil in a Sleeping Bag." Every note of both Shotgun Willie and Phases & Stages are absolute perfection.
