Was the Lost hour before just the last episode from last season?

The first hour was a spliced-together recap of the last season.

Also, Dungen was amazing.

That was pretty good but yeah I'm sure everyone saw that ending coming a mile away.

I missed Invasion but I'm downloading it now.

Good gottdammity that was good. But the future looks bad - I have class wednesday evenings until 30 minutes into it. And I have no tivo. So I'll be having the wife tape these, and then watching them afterwards.

It really does get "good movie" levels of excitement from me.

I didn't think it was supposed to be a huge revelation, more a "well, how the hell are they going to explain this?" type thing. I have to give them credit - after a very lackluster season finale, they managed to completely restore my faith with this first episode. Damn, that was good TV.

Anyone notice the mysterious numbers on the bottle of whatever that Australian guy injected into himself at the beginning?

Anyone intrigued by the quarantine notice painted on the inside of the hatch? Usually quarantine notices are posted outside of places people shouldn't go - this was inside the hatch, meaning the whole island is quarantined.

And now we've got possibly four groups of people - the crash survivors, the French lady and her (maybe dead) people, the sea-hoboes - sorry, "the Others," and this Australian guy (and others?) Not to mention the dead drug smugglers, the sailors of the Black Rock (who could be the Others' descendents.) Lost got me hooked good.

I was not really all that impressed by this. Slow moving. So little explanation of what we're even supposed to wonder about that I wasn't left with much desire to watch next week. I'll probably watch anyway, at least a few episodes, to see if there's anything worth investing in here. So far, it's a take it or leave it type of show for me. It's no Lost, thats for sure.

the opening scene was absolutely incredible. i didn't notice the numbers, but i'll have to look at them now. i taped it for my dad because he's still wrapped up in the dvds from last season and hasn't caught up yet.

i can't wait for them to explain why that guy is there several episodes from now.

i'm not complaining, i don't care about how they don't reveal things immediately after you see them, a) because if they revealed everything right away, there wouldn't be a show, and b) because EVERYTHING IS A DAMNED MYSTERY AND THEY KEEP INTRODUCING MORE MYSTERIES IN-BETWEEN THE SOLVING OF THE OTHER MYSTERIES.

the show has been likened to the x-files on more than one occasion, and i can see the similarities, not in terms of content, obviously, but in the way that they set up the whole mystique about the show, and i guess in the ways that they reveal some of the information to the audience. the most glaring similarity, is, of course, that they're both awesome.

I'm pretty excited that Image is playing one of the drug smugglers on Lost.

I thought he was supposed to be playing a native islander or something. Regardless, it'll be interesting.

I initially thought that it was supposed to be a young Locke or something. Was it just me, or was this what they were going for?

Anyone think the hatch guy may be from the French woman's crew, or is he independent from everyone we've met so far?

i had no idea who it could possibly be until i heard the explosion in the background and then i realized what we were looking at. and that made it awesome.

i honestly have no idea how they can possibly explain how both he and jack found their way to the island.

my brother thinks that he has the same "gift" that walt does, and so he was quarantined for some reason, and that's what "the others" have in mind for walt. an interesting suggestion.

But as someone else pointed out, the "quarantine" sign was on the inside, and the hatch was locked from the inside. The island was quarantined, not him.

what gift does walt have?

and what sickness/condition does Locke have? will it affect the "quarantine"? was he named john locke on purpose?

are those guys actually drug smugglers? slavers?

wasn't that a lot of backstory with the chick in the wheelchair? is she gonna fall out of another plane and land facefirst on the island?

is the french chick nuts or what? why does everyone see ghosts on the island?

black smoke WHAT THE FUCK

Walt is "special".

Locke used to be in a wheelchair.

The drug smugglers are some other people. Locke found a plane full of heroine that had crashed on the island. None of the people on the plane survived, to the best of our knowledge (but not shiv's knowledge).

The chick and Jack ended up getting married (and divorced).

The Frech chick might be nuts.

The black smoke means doom. Except it doesn't.

Go watch the 1st season, and pretend you didn't just read that ^^.

I was one hundred percent friggin lost last night(no pun intended).

But I was intrigued. I really really need to get the damn dvd set or something so that i can find out what the hell I'm missing.

And I liked Invasion. It was creepy and I think there was enough to go on from watching it that you don't NEED to know everything now. That would be sucky tv if you knew everything off the first episode. There'd be nothing left to surprise you with.

It reminded me a teeny bit of V for some odd reason. Hints of it at least.

People who have more time than I do claim that what the wet Walt whispered, played backwards, was "Push the button, no button is bad."

Which pretty much explains everything.

I've just read in TV Guide that Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (I'll call him Adebesi from now on) is going to be one of the smugglers. I don't think TV Guide knew for sure that he is though.

Shit, I've only seen bits of Lost as my wife watches it but Adebesi (from Oz for those who don't know) is one of my favorite tv characters ever.

Lost tonight was kind of a retread though the next episode looks better.

Invasion is looking pretty good though.

I hope the Night Stalker is decent tomorrow.

Yeah, tonight's Lost episode kinda sucked. It basically left off at the same point as the last one.

Also, am I the only person who desperately wants Michael to DIE?
