Sonic Youth (I own none of their albums but I do like a few songs and I'd never say they suck)

On the other hand, The Eagles and Doors do suck.

Led Zep had a handful of decent songs.

This would be on my list, despite absolutely LURVING The track from your mix.
I'll second Steely Dan, and most Jazz artists.

Does this topic make any sense? Most people are just listing bands that they think suck, but according to the first post it's supposed to be about bands that you acknowledge are great, but you just don't like. :wtf:

1. I've voiced my indifference towards Rolling Stones several times on different incarnations of this board.
I am a Pink Floyd fan (if I'm keeping this in the 60s/70s).
2. I hate Bright Eyes/Conor Oberst.
3. Bob Dylan (regardless, I watched the Scorsese doc about him on NPT last night)
4. THE SHINS

I'm sure I'll think of more

All good and fairly imaginative and disctinctive. I just don't care for 'em.

This breaks my heart, too, Stu-ey. But you like The Truckers, and UGA football, and Dana's from PTC, so you both have all the POTENTIAL to be awesome...

Sigh. I knew this one was coming.

Bands that I just can't into:

The Beatles (I only like a few songs)
U2

...and a lot of the older classic rock bands... the Who, Zep, etc. Just not my thing... I'm sure there's a lot more, but those are off the top of my head.

Newer bands:
Fiery Furnaces
The National
Devendra Banhart

People jizz all over them but I just. don't. get. it. It's alright, to each their own.

In trying to keep with the purpose of the thread, I'm thinking 'good' as in stuff that's maybe both lauded by critics and fans alike, but it simply lost on me.

Rush
Tom Waits
Meat Puppets
Black Sabbath

The Beatles
Led Zeppelin
Radiohead

are bands that I'm sure are technically decent, but I don't care for.

If it was bands that I just flat-out think suck, that's an entirely different story.

I'm glad that I really think that you are a nice guy and that we agree on more than we disagree on.....Let's just not bring this up ever again, k?

And you people saying you dont like the Beatles need to get your hearing checked or your brains examined. Seriously, folks.

As I've said before, conceptually and musically I'm aware that they're remarkable, but the vocals bug the bajimbuz out of me. Don't know why because there are other banshee howlers I really like.

This is the perfect example for me, by all rights I should enjoy at least SOME of this band's prodigious output, but everything I've heard is totally lost on me. Mind you I have not sat down and listened to one of their albums start to finish (I'm thinking American Beauty or Workingman's Dead), it's only been songs that I've heard (on their 'Greatest Hits') that have made me feel this way.

Drinky, how can you not like Forever Changes? That surprises me a little.

I tried to like this album for a while, but eventually I just gave up. The arrangements, production, and playing are nicely done and all, but I find a lot of the vocals, lyrics, and chord progressions to be mildly annoying.

Anyway, I just put it on a little while ago, and at first I was wondering, "Why don't I like this?" Then when it gets to "Andmoreagain", I remember. I've seen some people cite this as the worst song on the album, but I wouldn't say it's atypical of the rest of it. I think that song kind of sums up what I don't like about the album.

I don't know. I don't hate it or even strongly dislike it, really. I guess all of the nearly universal praise it gets kind of made it impossible for it to live up to expectations for me. Just like it claims on the back of the CD case, it sounds like my stereotypical idea of music in 1967 (plus a latin feel with some horns). There's just nothing in that sound that I really identify with and latch onto. I'm sure lots of people would claim that it transcends that era, but I've never really been able to hear it.

Pavement. I recognize their importance and influence. And I would never consider them bad. I've just never been able to get into them.
