I heard a song played at Matt's wedding at the reception (you were there, Ryan!) and thought it was pretty great.

Is it all pretty good?
Anything of theirs that I desparately need to own?

Let Go.

High/Low and The Proximity Effect are mediocre compared to Let Go. I haven't heard the new one yet, but it's on my to-get list.

their last album was ok - I listen to it from time to time. Very poppy - almost too syrupy in spots.

Awful band. Non-descript power pop IMO.

This may describe their first two releases but certainly doesn't describe either "Let Go" or "Weight is a Gift".

I'm guessing that the song they played at the wedding was "Inside of Love" - it was on "Let Go" :)

Let Go is really good and is worth a few listens. Yeah, it's power pop and doesn't break any new ground, but it has good melodies and good, introspective lyrics. The new one is pretty bad imo, which is a big letdown. The songs felt very plain, and the lyrics were simply too cheesy in spots. Proximity effect is ok, and has a couple decent songs. Haven't heard Hi/Low.

The song was indeed "Inside of Love" and it's from Let Go. Buy it Todd, you won't be sorry. Or I can probably burn you a copy for now.

Let Go is a 9.9. Todd, I honestly think that you would love it.

Not sold on The Weight Is A Gift yet, but I haven't given it many listens.

I think I started this same thread about 6 months ago based on their song "Blonde On Blonde"

I sill like that song but haven't really been impressed with anything else on Let Go.

Let Go is the one to own. It cost me a ridiculous amount to order it in to the store I was working at because it's from Barsuk, but it was worth it.

After that, maybe get High/Low. Thanks to the song 'Popular', that's the one that got them into the forefront of the collective conscious.

Let Go was worth it for "Blizzard of '77," "Blonde on Blonde," and "Hi Speed Soul." This new one is growing on me too, especially the songs "Concrete Bed" and "What is Your Secret?"

I had Proximity Effect in yesterday on the way to work and was FUCKING loving it! Everything is gold in my opinion. Yea, I guess Let GO is just overall better than everything else, but fuck, Caws has done no wrong imo. Power pop? Wtf? Start with Let Go...

Not that they matter, but I find this interesting...

Pitchfork gave Let GO like a 3.0 or something and Weight a 6. something. Weird.

I don't look for consistency with Pitchfork. I doubt everyone at Pitchfork would have given Let Go a 3.0 if they reviewed it. It's hard to get everyone's tastes lined up, for any magazine or Web site that does reviews, for consistency's sake.

I'll bet the new Liz Phair will get a 0.0 though - if they even decide to review it at all.
