That link/hypothesis is pretty damn interesting. I think that's what makes this show so great, it keeps the viewer guessing, speculating, discussing with others what might be going on. To me it's the mark of good entertainment.

Anybody else got comments on last night's ep? Things I noticed/questioned:

- where was Desmond going when he left? He sure as hell seemed to be going to a specific place vs. just wandering
- is the financial benefactor for the Dharma project (shown all grainy in the high-rise window) Locke's father?
- Polar bear sighting... again.... in the orientation film.
- Who was Kelvin, Desmond's partner? Is it really Ethan?
- during the orientation film, the narrator spoke of an "incident" that had occurred earlier on. Do you think Hurley's friend from the mental hospital and the guy in Australia could have had something to do with that?
- do you think the big black dude that beat Sawyer, Michael and Jin down is Rose's husband?
- did anyone else want Jack not to press the button, like me? ;)

edit: also it seemed as though the orientation film had been edited and things had been cut. Did I not hear the guy say something like, "Don't use the computer for anything else?"

yeah - I thought he may have a boat or something.

I don't think it looked like him

Ethan Rom = Other Man

Are those really "the others" or are they all from flight 815 and "the others" are those other guys that took walt?

For sure. Jack is really annoying me.

Yeah - he said that. There was a bunch of other stuff that was cut out - I am sure some nerds are Zapruderizing it right now.

Also - in the preview for next week's episode why did Jin speak in perfect English? Does his father's company have something to do with this whole thing?

I think Desmond didn't know where he was going. He didn't really seem to know much, he was just acting on blind faith. He doesn't know anything about the project, about the island, about the sickness. Heck, if he knew anything, he wouldn't have run off when the lights went out. He would have found the damn fusebox.

I also kind of wanted the button to go unpressed. As long as they keep pressing it, we won't find out what it does.

Big black dude was one the island before the crash. My guess is the people in the rear of the plane got rescued by him and whoever his people are and they all became all buddy-buddy.

Does that really look like Locke's father? I'll have to rewatch it. I was wondering how it is he made his fortune.

I think the people who captured Sawyer, Michael and Jin are not "the others" but just survivors from the back end of the plane. I think they may be going through the similar life cycle as our crew, but maybe something else happened to them to make them extremely distrustful of strangers.

Previews for this show generally show clips way out of context.

Or maybe the people that captured them are aliens and will be taking over their bodies next week.

- where was Desmond going when he left?
I don't know if he had any place in mind. They might throw that in later but for now I think we're just supposed to believe that he always wondered what would happen if he didn't push the button but always pushed it out of fear. Now that it can't be pushed, he's expecting an explosion so he's running as far has he can.

- is the financial benefactor for the Dharma project Locke's father?
I didn't notice this but now I wish I had.

- Polar bear sighting... again.... in the orientation film.
I noticed this. I still think Walt has something to do with the polar bears. Everytime he read the comic book with polar bears in it, they popped up. Maybe it's a combination of the experiment and Walt's powers though.

- Who was Kelvin, Desmond's partner? Is it really Ethan?
Don't really have thoughts on this at this point.

-Do you think Hurley's friend from the mental hospital and the guy in Australia could have had something to do with that?
I'm guessing Hurley's friend fromthe hospital has something to do with it. Clearly, the repeating numbers are linked to the crazy guy Hurley knew and eventually drew Hurley there as well.

- do you think the big black dude that beat Sawyer, Michael and Jin down is Rose's husband?
No, I think he was someone else from the plane and that group went more tribal than the group we know. I'm gussing the people in Michelle Rodriguez's group are from the back of the plane. I'll probably be wrong about that but it's my guess right now.

- did anyone else want Jack not to press the button, like me?
Definitely, I wanted to see what would happen. I'm surprised Lock was so worried about not pressing it. Seems like his character is more adventurous and would want to see what happend if it wasn't pressed.

Did I not hear the guy say something like, "Don't use the computer for anything else?"
I think the effect was to make it seem like old footage but there were a couple of parts that seemed to be removed.

Overall, I thought it was an ok episode but I'm getting impatient waiting for them to move the story along. It's taken way to long to show the story up to this point. I'm ready for them to get out of the hatch and to figure out who the people who captured Mike, Sawyer and Jin are.

also the film they watched looked brand new but with a "old movie" filter on it.

i wan't sure if that was a clue or just bad production values.

it loos to me like the big dude holding them hostage isn't from the plane at all. After all, there are several guys there, and the chick that got thrown into the pit with them clearly wasn't actually on the plane (the kinda went along with Sawyer, the only thing she said was the flight #, which anybody might know considering it'd make the news, esp. in the part of the world where it disappeared. I'm thinking this is just a slaving camp. I think they have Walt, too, as she kinda balked when asked if she saw him.

Can we even be sure this is the same island? When they first went on shore it looked like there was another island visible inthe background.

Could be right there.... as the orientation film did say the Swan Facility was number 3 of 6. Where are the other 5?

Yeah, you must have missed the episode. She was in one of Jacks back-stories.

This show afer it, Invasion is so far pretty damn awesome.

Yeah, I spent the last three years or so with one or two fav shows I watched only. This year man there's at least two shows a night I really wanna watch.

Then again I'm broke and have a kid so I can't go out much.

But still. Some of these new shows are great.

Invasion is really good - rips off a lot of stuff from X-Files, but whatever. I still like it. The park ranger guy's wife is hot. yeah.
