No Lynyrd = No My Morning Jacket and No Drive By-Truckers. So fuck that.

I'd go with KORN. No Korn = No Nu-Metal, and who'd miss that?

Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Ratt, Poison, Motley Crue, W.A.S.P., Winger, Bon Jovi, every single hair band in the 80s. Completely useless. I have to agree with Radcliffe about GBV too.

"Round and Round" was a great tune, and they get props for the video with Uncle Milty.

While I enjoy both of those bands, it would be a very small sacrifice in the eternal scheme of things for me

Kinda hard to argue with that -- can I change my vote?

Are Deftones nu-metal? I would miss them.

As much as I like KoRn's earlier stuff, you're giving them too much credit. Other bands could have easily picked up where Angel Dust left off.

Not really, though they tend to appeal to the same audience. They might not have come into existence if Korn never were, but I would like to believe otherwise (I like Deftones, too, just picked up the new rarities/DVD thingy).

Not really.... Chino was more influenced by MBV and a bunch of other bands I've never heard of. The bands who are either directly influenced or linked to Korn (i.e Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, et al) give dog shit a bad rep. I'd have no problem disposing of the lot of them

Dave Matthews. Getting rid of the bumper stickers alone would be worth it.

The whole rap metal thing seems to over with, and it looks like it will be forgotten, so I wouldn't waste it on korn or Limp bisket.

I wouldn't mind if all the MF Doom albums in the world were wiped off the face of the earth either because indie sensible rap just plain sucks.

Are you insinuating that Korn is responsible for the deftones commercial success? That's a mistake considering they emerged at virtually the same time. I believe Adrenaline was released only a few months after Korn's s/t'd debut(however they were in two different years). I don't want to give Korn any credit for anything besides being the artists second most likely to complain about their fucked up lives. Right behind Eminem -- that bastard will be on my list.

So, with that:

-eminem

-papa roach

-air supply

-whoever is responsible for the contemporary commercial country songwriting and their "neat" little plays on words. icky.

-the beatles just because i would never have to hear about how great and influential they were EVER again.

-also, this is not really an artist, but I would rid the world of whoever thought it was a good idea for artists to "crossover"(not with john edwards) from film/t.v. to music or vice versa.

Yep Sketch is right - Faith No More is the progenitor of all those bands

Revisionist history. Deftones were a part of the same scene as Korn et al. - same fan base. They were nu metal - the just incorporated the shoegaze and 80's gloom rock progressively into their sound, which meant they became the nu metal band it's ok to like.

Good band though.

Didn't mean to. But when the same target market like two different bands, they tend to feed off each other's momentum (case in point, Beatles/Beach Boys, way back when).

Like I said, I'd like to believe that they would have achieved commercial success without Korn's ever having been.

Man, I'm gonna get torched for this, but...

Depeche Mode

They were the main reason I somehow had the misfortune of attending five years worth of parties in college without hearing a single note of guitar, and for that, I shall never forgive them. Though, I will admit a rather odd fixation on "Personal Jesus."
