When I moved to Wisconsin I didn't ralize how bad leaving the guitar in my truck would destroy it over the winter. My fault indeed. Lesson learned. And Cap'n and I both have guitars that are cracked but still playable.

So I flew to Detroit this morning to work in Ann Arbor for the week and I decided to check my guitar. I got off of the plane today and picked up the guitar and it was the same as it's been for the last year or so, fine.

I was walking to the rental car counter and walked past the lost/damaged counter and decided, "Fuck it, I'm gonna try this". I told the lady at the counter that the guitar got damaged from the trip and I wanted to make a claim.

She told me that usually guitars are not covered by the airline. But she did make a claim anyway and gave my a voucher worth $100 toward my next flight. She said that I should call headquarters and ask about the claim and they "may" do something about it.

Should I call them, or take the voucher, leave a bankrupt company alone, and consider myself lucky?

should I go ahead and call Uncle Brian for when this all goes horribly wrong?

I dunno, I think I'd probably just take the voucher. I know you play a particularly expensive kind of guitar, and I wouldnt think they are gonna cough up scratch like that.

Put that one on ice and buy a new one, baby!

I would start by deleting this thread immediately. Insurance agents are a lot more ambitious than, for example, guvvies.

Well they probably can't prove it didn't happen on the plane, so as long as you're already a liar and a thief, what does it matter if you lie and steal a little bigger?

Mikey,
The answer to this question is clearly a resounding "YES!!"

And if they don't give you the answer you are looking for, wield the guitar ala the Honky Tonk Man, and Busty Slap that fucker into next week.

Pick up the pieces, and get a new guitar.

This maneuver reeks of Old Busty.

Edit: Decided not to openly incriminate Krusty Busty Rhodes..he does it well enough himself.

Personally, I'd realize how wrong this is, rip up the voucher and take nothing from the company that didn't owe me anything.
