Sooo good, from what I could tell by my first listens. It is as much restrained as it is riffy. It's not overly droney, in fact it's pretty clean. It's careful, and deliberate, and lightly textural. Anyway, I loved it this morning.

Ish, you weren't kidding. Really good shit. It wraps around you like a warm blanket.

John Xela told me about it a few weeks ago, and I slept on it. Thanks for sorting it out.

The brief major chording that pretty much forms the centrepiece of the album is awesome. S'like, whaaaat? Consonance? And then it's back to minor riffage.

Apparently, it's sold 4000 copies of vinyl alone.

Actually, "Infidel? Castro!" is the name of the band -- it was just one question (resulting in two questions, total).

i mean, it's a good record. i was sort of disappointed though, overall. put on a pretty rad show when i saw them a couple months ago though.

(altho it was a fantastic show. opened with marissa nadler and jack rose, two of the best in the folk scene and ended with growing and earth into the early morning, growing being one of the best drone bands, and earth just being legends.)

This is my first proper introduction to Earth, and compared to Sunn, the subtlety of this record is winning me over.

contradiction: That sounds like an awesome show. Why no like the record so much?

Sunn0))) started out as an Earth cover band...

I like the new Growing album a lot, I adore "Black One" and "White One" by Sunn0)))...

and have never really been that big on Earth. I'll have to try and check out the new album, I guess...

That's exactly what I was going for:

Slow = Low
Ambient = Eno
Beatless Metal = Sleep and Boris

Perhaps I'm a bit off with the last particularly. In any case, I thought I did pretty good. It's doom without the apocalypse.

My point was that if you like Low you might like this album, which isn't a far cry from Low, excepting the vocals.
