Really fucking awesome record. Maybe my favorite of their catalogue.

My favorite would have to be the Smith's brilliant Hatful of Hollow album, which I happen to like best out of all of the Smiths albums. It doesn't really even count because it's a collection but there is nothing that is even close to this good that came out that year.

I think this was top 20 on my listmania. I would definitely put it ahead of everything mentioned so far. I didnt remember it was a 1984 release. I don't tend to mentally catalog albums by year of release. To me excluding this on the basis that its not a studio album is being overly technical. Its not like its a career spanning collection. They had exactly one album out in 1984 which also came out that same year. This was mostly different versions of the same songs with some extras tacked on.

I feel bad that no one voted for the Fall. Hopefully, bluejayway will correct that injustice.

The Fall got my vote.

Cocteau Twins - Treasure, Nick Cave - From Her to Eternity, Hatful of Hollow, and Ocean Rain are the runners up.

Echo and the Bunnymen get my vote. There are probably at least 470 albums from 1984 that are better than "The Unforgettable Fire," but I'm not about to try to list them.

I went with U2, though I could have just as easily taken Metallica or Prince.

Nope. April, 1984.

Don't believe everything you read on AMG.

I voted for Ocean Rain in the "Other" category., The Smiths s/t is in the running too, and if I had to pick from the listed releases, Double Nickels would get my vote.
