fine whateer you say.. he's overrated... baseball writers, players, and fans around the world who have regarded him as one of the premiere players of our generation, seem to have been fooled into thinking he is a tremendous ball player, cause of your FBL team analysis.

our bad! :D

still say its sour grapes. lol

He's also the most selfish and least respectful ball player of our generation. There's a reason he's never won a ring and most likely, never will.

I have nothing to be sour over... my team won the WS this year.

most selfish....yup.....offered to change positions in order to play for a contender.....Torre ludicrously batted him 2nd in the line-up half his tenure here, and he didnt say a word... he's not a saint, but i wouldnt say selfish.

Said he wanted to play for a contender in 2000 and then took the most money offered by that winning machine, the Texas Rangers! They still call him Pay-Rod, no? He had to switch positions going tto NY because Jeter is so far ahead of him defensively, it's redonkulous. With the lineups that George puts out there, you could bat Ruth 2nd. Arod still has some wheels and is better served higher up in the lineup, IMO.

I could argue against this guy all day... but, he is a great player... just glad he's not on the Sox.

I was completely ambivalent about A-Rod until he pulled that ball-slapping thing on the way to first place. That was about the weakest shit I've ever seen.

He's a douche. Talented, but a douche.

This incident did it for me too... he also pulled something similar against the White Sox in the first game of their series in August, when he deliberately got in the way of a throw to first. The rules say that he should be out for interference, but he got away with it.

Hmmm

I dont know bout you and your morals....If someone offered me a 250 million dollar contract, when the next best offer on the table was only 150 million, I'd take the bigger one..thanks.... Maybe you are a bigger person. I'll take the money thanks...Plus, Texas was pimping about this great young minor league system of players they had, which didnt pan out.

Jeter until a year ago, was never considered a great defensive player. He came into his own in 2004, wining the gold glove in 2004 and 2005. A-Rod at shortstop won it in 2002 and 2003..And , AROD went a string of about 77 games mid season without an error. He is a fine third baseman.. So, youre wrong there.

as for the batting, i dont totally disagree with you, but Matsui should have been 2nd....not 4th or 5th.... arod should have been 3rd or 4th.....a guy who puts up numbers like that, shouldnbt bat second....

and again, i agree with you.. theyre both great players....and everyone knew how evert the results ended up, theyre would be a legit excuse why the voting didnt turn out right....im just happy it ended up like this!

and im happy he is not on the Sox (Red or White) either!

That's seriously one of the silliest things I've ever heard. A-Rod won the Gold Glove at shortstop the year before he switched. Jeter has won last two. Jeter has neither the arm nor the range of a-rod. Jeter is very good at certain plays and has a knack for making big plays, but on an everyday basis, A-rod is a much better defensive player. You are the first person I've ever heard even suggest the opposite.

So blame the umpires for blowing the call, not Arod...

as for the slap play at first, if the same play was happenign at home plate, where the rules stupidly allow and almost encourage a collision, it woudnt be a debate....it was only bush-league after Schilling went public with it.....dumb? yes...Makes him a asshole? sour grapes.

this is where i come to raise post counts!

No kidding... it's fun to debate baseball, though.

I contest that only A-rod would even try those kinds of things. You think Jeter would do that?

Jeter is the consumate professional...

but if ya want dirt on him, you should see him plow thru the ladies of NYC, according to my friend who bounces at a club that Jeter frequents....

how he has energy to play ball is ridiculous? lol

I think he won gold gloves the two previous years. I don't watch a lot of Yankee games, but everytime I watch, Jeter sucks up everything hit to him. Looking at numbers, A-rod's fielding % is higher, but like you said, Jeter has a knack of making the big plays. For me, it's probably a case where one player probably just dominates my team and that's what I remember. I also remember A-rod killing in the field in Seattle, but Texas' defense was so good before, and when he was there, I just lost track.

As a White Sox fan, I just fell in love with Uribe this year. Everytime a routine grounder went to him and he made the play, I wondered aloud into what row of the stands Valentin would have thrown the ball.

Neither Jeter or A Rod are top tier fielders.

this is a moot point because jeter was named captain in the 02/03 season i believe and is anyone really going to ask the captain to change positions?

Of course they weren't going to ask jeter to change positions, but would any really expect you to ask someone coming off an MVP award and a gold glover winner at their position to change positions either? And how does the fact that Jeter played ss not make it an unselfish move on A-Rod's part to make the move.

I think A-Rod may be one of the best all around players ever. EVER.

But he gets a lifetime buster award from me for the whole Rangers debacle.

Would I take the money? You bet your ass but don't sit there and tell me it's to try and win a championship by going to a team that had not done anything in years at the time and then jumping ship when everything you knew would happen happened. Hell he was on a conteder in Seattle.

He also gets a lifetime buster award for that fucking commercial he did with Daisy Fuentes. "Daisy you are SOOOO busted!"

Christ.

I always thought as team captain he should have iniated a move to 2nd base.

Yeah, I was gonna way in with something akin to this. Plus, he just looks like he has some sugar in his tank. I bet dollars to donuts he's seen one up close.

And he will also win the Rafael Palmeiro Lifetime Award for Putting Up Huge Numbers, But Not Being a Winner.
