Listening to Brinsley Schwarz right now and it occurred to me that they never fail to put a smile on my face and make me feel GOOD.

Yay!

What music makes you feel like that?
(I'm sure that there's lots, but what one comes to mind?)

Yesterday I was listening to Lowest of the Low and realized I was smiling for absolutely no reason. Lots of implicit memories I guess, but just fun music.

Radiation Vibe always makes me happy too.

All Frank Zappa makes me extremely happy.

Other noteworthy mentions include: Weird Al Yankovic, Ween, Rush, XTC, They Might Be Giants...

Culture, Tribe Called Quest, Al Green, BB King, THE CLASH, Rolling Stones ... actually, pretty much any good music makes me happy. That's why I listen to it so much.

the first thing that popped into my head was Dr. Hook, for some reason. I guess because it reminds me of my childhood.

I'll second what PT said...good god this is a great call. Anybody heard any of the Charlie Chesterman solo stuff?

I'm a sucker for the real poppy stuff...Moonpools & Caterpillars, Pooh Sticks, Voice of the Beehive, Letters to Cleo, etc. Oh, and Matthew Sweet's "Girlfriend" usually does the trick for putting me in a good mood.
