Also, I've read that the Mets might be trying to spin Delgado into a heads up swap for Manny

The Braves are going after Trevor Hoffman, but now the rumor is that they may be going after Hoffman AND Billy Wagoner.

Furcal probly ends up on the Cubs, no?

I read that Chipper restructured his salary, and b/c of that ATL might actually be able to afford Furcal.

Also heard that it's basically down to Mets vs. Phils for Wagner

Yeah, but despite Chip restructuring, apparently the Cubs may still offer more money than the Braves are willing to pay.

I remember hearing before the season ended up that The Braves might let Furcal go and pick up Nomar on the cheap.

And I had heard what you had about Wagoner (Mets or Phils); I just heard this Braves thing this morning and havent tracked it down any further.

Are they that reluctant to give Wilson Betimit a shot? He was a top-prospect only a couple of years ago and is still pretty young (24?). He seemed to do a decent job filling in last season.

I'm not sure; it seemed like Betimit was at AAA for 15 years; he did do well last year but they obviously have some problem with him.....I actually like having a guy like that on the bench as a utility guy especially b/c he plays a pretty good third base and I just don't think Chip is gonna ever be able to make it through another season without spending some time on the DL.

He'll still have to put on about another fifty pounds to be able to approach Big Mo's expanse.

I'm saying afterwards. Trading for Delgado to later trade to get Manny.

Jim Thome to the White Sox for Aaron Rowand.

This pretty much makes the Juan Pierre trade inevitable in my mind.

p.s. I am pissed off.

Thanks Chi-Sox...You solved our 1st Base and CF problems....This also gives the Phils more loot to throw at Wagner...

By the way...How good is Aaron Rowand ??

The Phils will pay half of Thome's salary, so apparantly that means the Chi-Sox can still go after Konerko.

Great move by the Phils here. Rowand didn't have the breakout season last year that many thought he would, but hitting in Philly he could be a solid 20/20 hitter, and maybe better.

Thome seems far better suited to play full-time DH, so I guess this means the end of the Frank Thomas era for the Chi-Sox. They still need to find a way to keep Konerko, though.

Rowand had his break out year 2004, batting something ridiculous like .320 with 24 home runs. Last year was a bit of a downstep. He was a gold glove outfielder this year despite Torii Hunter getting it. He's young, he can hit for contact, he's somewhat clutch. He'll be really missed.

After his nice 2004, I think many thought he could make the jump to 30/30 - I guess that's what I was referring to as a "breakout." He's 28 now though, so 30/30 might still be possible.

I don't see it happening. I'd expect 270-290, 15-25 home runs for the rest of his career. Probably not more than 20 stolen bases.

Still, if you were to look up solid in a baseball dictionary, he'd probably be there.

Sounds good...He sounds like he will be much better in CF than the wonderful platoon of Jason Michaels and Kenny Lofton...

I wouldn't mind taking Delgado in return for Manny, since it was reported Ortiz said Manny apparently said he won't be returning to Boston. He also said Pedro would be staying though, so who knows? I heard he wanted to play on the west coast so I really have no idea what's gonna happen with him.

Actually, that report is probably silly. The Mets needed the most help at first base, and that wouldn't make sense.

I would have taken Kenny Lofton in that trade too, and maybe thrown in Marte.

Yeah I was just looking at the Mets lineup and had no idea who their first baseman was so I guess they're keeping him.

I wonder if the Angels would give up Anderson for Manny?

i guess The Score is saying that the cubs are close to a deal to get Pierre for a 3 minor prospects? I haven't heard it but it's on the mlb Cubs board.

If Garrett Anderson were traded for ManRam, no one would change teams.

GA = laziest person to ever put on a baseball uniform, and only one MLB player has been fined for listening to an MP3 player while playing the field during a game...

Why? To guarantee that the Sox won't repeat?

Where Kenny go, the champagne don't flow, brother.
