so are you blantantly trying to leave off the beatles and beach boys?

also, what about some Mamas and Papas or The Association ("Along Comes Mary" is one of my favorite songs ever) or Simon and Garfunkel or The Rascals or The Turtles or The Hollies

Duncan Browne - Give Me Take You One of the best albums of the sixties, a true baroque pop album. Song suggestion: "on the bombsite"

Montage - S/T Michael Brown's project after he quit the Left Banke, though he wasn't "officially" in the band. Song Suggestion "Grand Pianist"

Free Design - ALL Wow, sophisticated sunshine pop. Harmonies equal to or better than the beach boys because of the greater range provided by female as well as male singers. Produced by Enoch Light. Song Suggestion "I found Love"

Bee Gees: 1st - damn their early stuff was some good 60's lush pop. Song Suggestion "Holiday"

Left Banke: all - walk away renee is too easy, they have so so so many great songs. Song Suggestion: "And Suddenly"

damn, late sixties pop is my favorite genre.

Agree, I don’t think he sucks at all. I think he is misunderstood but not sure if I like him that much to warrant owning three albums by him.

he doesn't really have too many really good albums, but there are many gems to be found on almost all of his albums.

wow yeah. "Alone Again Or" by Love should definitely start the album off. That's probably in my top 5 opening tracks ever.

There's a British band called Honeybus you might consider checking out.

Russell! Look! If this doesn't get you on board nothing will. And don't give me that "I keep forgetting the address" excuse, sonny boy.

The Creation
The Hollies
Millennium (someone said that already, no?)
Sagitarius
Merry-Go-Round ("Live" was covered by the Bangles)
Emitt Rhodes (from Merry-Go-Round... his first solo record was actually 1970, does that count?)

I was going to say The Hollies, too, but Todd beat me to it.

But they only had one one one record.

Plus it's for his mother-in-law. Easy is good.

They had two records, actually.
And I would put forth the the following options as extremely viable:
Pretty Ballerina
Barterers & Their Wives
Desiree

Any of them woulkd be gret picks, even for a mother-in-law.
