I went with Other: Bobby Conn - Rise Up!

simply one of the best white soul/hard rock concept albums in a long time

All the omissions I made were deliberate.

#10 was Lucinda, #11 was Elliott and #12 was Beck. That's just the way the poll shook out.

Or Deserter's Songs? I believe we did a not too shabby amount of whooping to albums such as these.

(This is backin the days when albums like Lucinda had to stay in my truck, so no one would question me about them)

For sure. I definitely broke out of my laziness of only listening to old shit and jam bands in this period.

And didnt the Jackson Hunt demo come out in '98? Now THAT was a rekkid.

Yeah, I did not metion in my post that this seems like the year that I really shrugged off rap, and jam bands, and got into the type of stuff we really listen toaround here.

And then I voted for a rap rekkid.

That EP that came with Deserter's Songs is a bastard as well. I believe I lit approximately 137 people on fire with that J-Hunt rekkid as the sdtk. Also, RAPE.

Wow , one heluva a year.

I voted for NMH, but hhad a strong pull for many others;

Silver Jews - American Water
Richard Davies - Telegraph
Belle & Sebastien - The Boy with the Arab Strap
Beck - Mutations
The Eels - Electro-Shock Blues
Afghan Whigs - 1965
Gomez - Bring It On
Lucinda Williams - Car Wheels on the Gravel Road

All of the above are my favorite releases from the respective artists. A stellar year indeed.

Yeah, the song "Nothing To Prove" is responsible for the slow-motion deaths of at least 18 prosties and I think "Josephine" may or may not have provided the soundtrack to my "bombing" the Cracksprings Projects with fireworks.

WOW. I think "Nothing to Prove" was played during a party known as "Dr. Geyer gets a prescription to Vicodin, Part 7" as well.

JAIL.

Also, I don't count the Buckley record as it's really not a proper album, but I figured someone would be hemming and hawing about that

its not that bad dude. I've always been more of an Olivia Tremor Control person but its hard to deny the freakout-ability of a song like "Holland 1943"
