I read it as "one hit wonders whose hit came out in the nineties". Otherwise you can draw in all sorts of older artists, like Chicago, and it just gets messy.

Dishwalla - Counting Blue Cars
Seven Mary Three - Cumbersome (though I still back this record)
Semisonic - Closing Time
Candlebox - Far Behind
Wallflowers - One Headlight

If someone would just post the track listing for Rykodisc's "Whatever!" box we'd be all set.

I think "Dim" also got quite a bit of airplay but that's probably debatable

I think we're all defining hit differently. Did Dada really have any hits at all, or just two songs on the radio? If those two songs count, then Seven Mary Three, Semisonic, Wallflowers, etc. don't count as one hit wonders either because they each had several radio songs.

Two of my faves from this thread. Another fave:

Too Much Joy - Crush Story

For me, a "hit" is a song that you're guaranteed to hear if you turn on a commercial radio station for 15 to 20 minutes. Dada had at least two hits.

Edit: IN MY OPINION, OF COURSE

That's how I originally was looking at is as well, but then swiateck suggested some bands that had more than one song of that nature but perhaps only had one on the Billboard charts.

Way to ruin my fun, dad.

Speaking of shudders, remember the disco-fied dance version of that song. Oh man.

Texas - Inner Smile

Here's a Texas track that Gregg Alexander wrote after leaving The New Rads. It even has a silly story attached to it that happened during the recording process.

Quote:
I once read that Gregg Alexander said that Inner Smile was his favourite track that he ever wrote with anyone? Is it true? What was it like working with him?
Mark, Vegas

Spiteri: We went in to record it and I think he was used to working with these bands that he does a lot with and said ‘Why don’t you try singing like this’. I said ‘Gregg, why don’t you fuck off? I’m a real singer and I’ve been doing harmonies and backing vocals probably 10 times the amount of years you have, so why don’t you sit there and let me sing and maybe I’ll teach you something’. I remember him bursting out laughing and later on he came back and said ‘You know what, you were absolutely right, you totally nailed it’. I said ‘I know you’re not used to that’ and I don’t think he was. It was just me, Johnny and Gregg and we all have a few ideas and we just work on it together and then start recording bits. Then Johnny and I would go back and start working on it at home and then we’d all meet again and carry on. I enjoyed it though, and I think Inner Smile is a great track.

I loved and continue to love both of those first two artists' albums that those songs came out on. Superdrag was great live back in the day! HUM as some of you know sounded awesome in September.

Also, Silverchair's Frogstomp is a classic 90's album. And those kids were 16 at the time??
