Last night I saw a one hour special on MuchMusic about Pete Doherty, and I gotta say the boy doesn't look like he's got too many minutes left on this world. It's a shame, too, 'cuz he's got real talent.

Take him in your death pool for no later than '07.

I assume it was some kind of promotion for the new album, but they didn't include any songs from it (except for a few live clips). And yeh, lotsa mumbling and paranoid glances, a few awkward temper tantrums, visibly rotting teeth, and all-around incoherence - all the junkie tell-tales. One of the best moments was the narrator saying "...and with his drug intake under control..." while Pete and the band were cutting lines in the bus.

And even through all that, dude can still just pick up an acoustic guitar on-camera and launch into something that's golden.

Anyone know if the CDN release date is the same?

Semi-related question: Is the Libertines second album > or = to the first?

IMO Up The Bracket is the best overall (especially the version that includes the "What A Waster" ep as bonus tracks - 'cus "What A Waster" is the Libertines' finest moment). The second album has a lot of good stuff, but a few tracks that are outright dogs.

I like 'em both about equal.

If you need either one, holla.

I completely agree with "What a Waster" being the genius moment on that album. I've had the second in my hands a couple of times ready to buy it and then decided against it for whatever reason. After hearing Pete's latest and greatest train wreck I thought I might like to hear it sometime.

DJ, get your ass down to the store right now man. Their second album is fucking outstanding. I'm gonna agree with Rads about it not being as solid as their debut, but it's a great great album, with some heartbreaking vocals and lyrics at times. It's as honest as music can get.
